My husband & I were riding Highway 555, & when we reached Zanesville we were looking for a place to eat. We found Muddy Misers online & what a find. Tara was excellent. She was very friendly & offered recommendations (which were spot on). We ordered onion rings for an app (thin & well seasoned, just like I like then). I ordered the special, Shrimp feta Quesadilla (tasted great) & my husband ordered the Ribs (very flavorful as well). The must order side is the bourbon glazed sweet fries. I wish I had the glaze recipe to take home with me.

Having spent a pleasant day in Zanesville, we chose to dine here since it is rated best and many locals recommended it. A great choice.
I started out with a craft cocktail, whisky ango smash. Excellent flavor. It had little cubes of mango in it, and I don't think they added much--I'd have gone with a slice of mango on a skewer maybe, or if they were supposed to add flavor to the drink I'd have muddled hem.
We shared a crab stuffed shrimp appetizer, partly because we were curious about how one stuffs a shrimp. Well, they are jumbo shrimp curled around a nice dollop of crab filling. Definitely knife and fork food.
Then we split an entree of Ohio walleye, panko crusted and pan-fried. Assuredly they know how to handle their walleye, and panko-crusted is the best option, we thought.
Since we're on vacation I get to indulge in dessert if they have cheesecake. I only want it plain, no syrups or caramel or other off flavors. Their cheesecake I would rate highly. It's not a New York style, more Italian, with I think a bit of ricotta in the mix. The coffee I had with it was outstandingly good.
As a bonus, the facility houses the "Purple Sage Gallery", a collecting of items relating to the areas most noteworthy citizen, the author Zane Gray. The city was named after his grandfather, and Muddy Miser was the man who taught Zane how to fish and who served as a surrogate father figure.
So, really good food and drink and deep connection to the history and lore of its city. Not often can such a place be enjoyed.

A very pleasurable experience. Wait staff was experienced and friendly and prompt and the food came out of the kitchen on a very reasonable time. The quality was excellent and we felt there was value in our meals and on top of that we outdoor experience made the day!

I was here with my husbands and another couple. They were very busy on a Sat. night and short staffed. It took forever just to get water. I felt bad for the waitress. My friends shared a steak dinner that was way over cooked and they were not happy. I ordered the shrimp. I thought they came with cilantro sauce but we didn't see the waitress again till we were done. The shrimp were huge. I ordered the full size not realizing how big they were so I was able to share with the folks who had the bad steak. My husband got fish and chips and liked it. I can't even remember the sides....they were not memorable apparantly. No bread. We won't be back. Oh yes, and the parking was hard, no handicap spaces we could see.

I heard good things about the restaurant but I was not impressed. The service could have been better. Ordered fish n chips and the fish was greasy and the batter needed salt. Coleslaw was awful - too much vinegar and too much dressing. The mushroom soup was good, though. Dark inside and not conductive to coversation due to the acoustics. Not handicapped accessible.

Stopped Here for a Lunch on our way home from Kentucky to Ohio. Very cute location right on the river, sat on the patio. Service was a bit slow. I had the Short Rib Philly, the flavor was good but it was a bit dry I think it needed liquid cheese. The Hubs had the Cajun Crawfish Po Boy he said it was spicy and very good. We also had the onion straws, which were just average they were a bit to thin. I would probably try something else if we came again

Ended up here by accident. We were going to the brewery in the building across the parking lot but it wasn’t open yet. So glad it wasn’t.
Muddy Misers is a real gem! Lovely setting on the river with deck dining. The bar is like a Chers where locals go to meet friends but are also happy to talk to passer bys like us. The owner and his wife stopped by our table to chat as well.
Servings are very generous and reasonably priced. We shared the half order of chicken/shrimp nachos and a full order of barbecue smoked ribs and it was plenty for the two of us. Food is all made in house and very good.
Especially like the fact that the owner is a veteran and welcomes veterans with a 10% discount. Give them some business ya’ll.

Arrived at 11:30 am, on a monday, and upon leaving at 12:15 the place was almost packed! Very popular place! He had the gyro and I had the Asian Chicken sald - both were excellent. Enjoyed eating most of my husband’s home made potato chips! They had just assembled a couple of igloos for the winter, on the balconey. Going to charge $200 rent gor an hour snd s half gor up to 6 people. Hmm. Bring down the rent, and you might have simething! Put white xmas lights on the railing, not in the igloo to keep from feeling cramped. Would recommend max 4 people in igloo.

We were traveling through the area and picked this restaurant based on the fact it was the #1 restaurant. Wow if this is the best Zanesville has to offer what a shame! We ordered the home made bacon wrapped jalapeño poppers and most of the bacon was virtually raw. Next up we ordered a crab cake and hot slaw salad and got a piece of crab shell on the first bite. The slaw like frankly everything on the menu lacked flavor - no salt spice seasoning etc. Hubs got a fried walleye sandwich and just same experience no flavor. I will say the fries were good and hot!

Had the fish and chips small size which was a half a pound for $10. Fish was excellent, as was the chips coleslaw and great selection of beer. Wait staff was attentive and friendly. Could sit by the river and enjoy the view. Also a friendly mascot in the form of a tortoiseshell cat that rubbed against our legs.

We have eaten there twice in the past month and both times it was excellent! The first time was my husband and I and a mutual friend. I had the fish and chips with coleslaw, my husband had a hamburger, fries and coleslaw and our friend had the Asian salad. The second time there was a group of 6 women and I had the rib-eye steak sandwich with a side order of onion rings and it was delicious! Our waitress was very good, too!One

What a wonderful surprise! Service was great thanks to Rachel P. and the ribs and Philly Cheese Steak was delicious. Concluded our great experience with splitting a piece of homemade peanut butter pie. When you visit the Zanesville area, keep Muddy Misers at the top of your restaurant list.

My family met here so my elderly mother could see her grandchildren who live five hours away. It was the halfway point for us so I selected this restaurant. So glad I did. There were nine of us and we couldn’t have been treated better. Our waitress treated us with such respect and service was above and beyond. On to the food. It was absolutely delicious. Each of us ordered something different and everyone raved about how good the food was. On the three hour drive home, we discussed how we couldn’t wait to go back. Highly recommend this place.

The food is is carefully crafted, delicious and competitively priced. The atmosphere, service, location and interior layout are enjoyable. In nice weather the patio along the river is very relaxing. This place is definitely a hidden gem.

So I found myself in Zanesville OH & needed to eat. I always consult Trip Advisor & it always hits the spot.
We were seated fast & waitress was fine, no complaints. We had an appetizer crab wontons, wedge salad, pork chops, Mac & cheese, lemon chicken, hot cabbage & peanut butter pie. Everything was good, hot & came out in a timely manner.
No complaints !!
