It is too bad that this place lost their lease and had to close. It was by far one of the best Mexican restuarants in Oregon. Thankfully they still have one left in East Bend.

This was recommended by our B and B. This is a great little Mexican restaurant. The food is very tasty and authentic. We had help choosing because the portions looked large and the servers were very helpful. I had a tortilla with beef and vegetables , refrained beans( delicious) and rice. Nice cocktails as well.

We live in the area and heard that the food was excellent, unfortunately our experience was not pleasant and we will NEVER go back. The chicken fajitas were served on a smoking hot cast iron, as they usually are, but these were completely dry so therefore they sat on the very hot cast iron and burned. They were bitter and... 5 people to dine out. Where to go? We tried El Caporal in Tumalo as we were camped at Tumalo State Park. Great choice. Everyone had a different meal and enjoyed it. Personally, I had a veggie burrito and it was the best I've ever had. I ate every morsel.

This is our favorite spot to enjoy good food and friends. The service is excellent, fast beverage service and well trained server (fading at many restaurants). Fun to dine outside and check out Tumalo traffic😉

Just stopped in on the spur of the moment and were pleasantly suprised. Sat on their patio that was small but not cramped and were waited on almost instantly although they were busy. We just had a Super Nacho w/chicken that that took care of both of us. The beer was served with a frozen glass(great on a warm day)and... More

Pros: food was tasty, hot and timely.Service was a little slow given that there were only a couple tables occupied, and was not super friendly, but was adequate. Outside seating nice in warm weather. We like this El Caporal better than the one in Bend by Costco. Cons: Inside communication would be extremely difficult if restaurant was crowded.

They are by far the nicest people that own and operate the Tumalo El Caporal. Never had a bad meal or experience there. My favorite time of year to eat there is in the summer out side under an umbrella. I had the seafood burrito this time but my other favorite it the Carne Asada. Can't go wrong there.

Just OK unfortunately. I really wanted to like it better. It's not terrible so you should judge for yourself. The place and service were fine but the food seemed a little out of a can in spots and the cheese was just too orange, unmelted, and tasteless for me. The beans were mostly lard, not beans. Am still searching for... More

Good, friendly service and very tasty Mexican food. One of my favorites is the "Burro Relleno" a vegetarian option with a cheese stuffed chile pepper inside a bean burrito. Very tasty and just the right size. We've been coming here every year during our summer visits to Bend. It has always been good. It is one of the first restaurants... More
