A friend of mine took me to Departure and when I looked at the menu beforehand I thought this is going to be another one of these Asian restaurants with ok food. I am so glad I was wrong. The food was amazing. Very flavorful en even though you order small plates to share the portion sizes are decent so... More
Went here for dinner based on review from varoius websites and knowing the chef was a contestant on Top Chef. When we arrived at the elevator, I didn't realize the restaurant was on the top floor of the hotel. That had me worried. Most "scenic view" restaurants live solely on the view and terrible food. When we arrived at the... More

I love this place. We are staying at The Nines and went out w friends who live in Portland who recommended Departure. So glad they did!! The bartenders are so nice, helpful w menu and made great drinks. I live in Vegas - the drinks here are spot on. Cocktails I mean. Chris our bartender / waiter is THE BEST.... More
I was confused as I got out of the elevator as I was lead down a dimly lit hallway. I totally felt out of my element as this was not your ordinary restaurant. We walked out to the outdoor bar and patio to take in the view of the city. You've got a 270 degree view of the city, heaters... More
We booked reservations, excited to try the Portland Dining Month menus on what was our first visit to Departures. As an FYI, it's at the top of Nines Hotel -- signage was rather lacking downstairs/outside of the main entrance of the hotel, and so a couple in our party walked right past it a couple of times, before figuring out... Went for dinner as a family on holiday weekend. Was a bit anxious as had young kids. The restaurant was busy, good music. Food was great. Pork Belly, crispy cod and chili prawns especially. Good and reasonable priced wine list. Experience was made exceptional by our server, Ashley. Great recommendations, even for kids. Judged pace of service and level of... More
Thank you Chris! We are so glad to hear that you and your family had a great time, and I will make sure to pass along your kind words to Ashley. Having a young child myself I know what it's like to try and dine out, so it makes me very happy to hear that you were able to enjoy... More
Great view, but this restaurant works on the basis of shuffling people in / out. We ordered a couple of cocktails which were great and a few food dishes. I really like the crispy halibut (dim sum) and the tuna poke - by far the best dishes. We ordered the waygu - which was a complete disappointment. I don't think... More
Went for happy hour because we were staying at the Nines Hotel and were a little disappointed - Granted the outdoor seating area with the amazing views was closed because it was 40 degrees & pouring down rain. Happy hour was house wines & cheap Japanese beer - none of which were good. The food was fine for their specials... More
