This place appears to be the local hang-out for the 50 and over crowd. Went on a Saturday night and it was packed. The average age was in the 50's but there appeared to be a number of 30 somethings with their 60 or 70...More

I ordered a beer on tap. I see her stirring something in a metal container and pour it into my glass. Im thinking, what is she doing? After some more stirring and a little more beer from the tap to give it a little fizz,...More

We bought the Tillicum in October and re-opened in November 2013. I'd like to invite you to come in and check us out! We cleaned, painted, repaired and "rescued" the Tilly from it's sad state. None of the former employees are still here, including the...More

THE HISTORY OF THE TILLICUM Built in 1870, the Tillicum (named for a great Chinook Indian Chief) was a log cabin tavern, with five smaller log cabins in the timber behind the main building, and was a stagecoach stop on the route from the Oregon Coast to Portland, The Tillicum was known to everyone as a friendly rest stop with the highest quality of food and service. It still is (although a different kind of haven), but the comforts of good food, drink and companionship have not changed. Generations of Portlanders have been fortunate enough to enjoy delicious, home cooked meals, excellent drinks and live music. Many of us have celebrated our birthdays, anniversaries and holidays here. Many guests have told us that their grandparents and parents were patrons before they themselves discovered the Tillicum. Over the past few years, the Tillicum fell into the hands of well-meaning but inexperienced operators and lost its luster. We aim to restore the "Tilly" to its former glory and welcome you to join us on this journey! We thank you for your visit and look forward to honoring all of you "weary travelers" to the newly "rescued" Tillicum.
