Great drinks, authentic bar menu. Offering different not Tex Mex. Great tortillas, cactus salad, taquitos some with a yummy potato filling. Tasty rellenos with a great variety of fillings. Great atmosphere for day of the dead, don't know if it all was for Halloween, super skeleton made of straw hanging from the ceiling.

Love the atmosphere, the back patio and bar are the best! Plus the BEST Sope EVER! Wish I could have it sealed and mailed to me.

We had not been to La Calaca Comelona for a long time (years). Today we sat outside in the shade on a sunny day and thoroughly enjoyed many items on the happy hour menu: mini enchiladas, taquitos dorados, esquite, la huesuda, chalupitas. Everything is delicious! We spend a lot of time in central Mexico (not the coastal cities). Finally these... More

Good Mexican food. A lot of variety in what they offer. The outside it doesn't look so attractive, but inside is has a good atmosphere. Their happy hour is good. You should go and try it.

We stopped in on a Friday night and it wasn't that busy but it took a long time to get our food. For the most part just felt anti-climatic. The cilantro coleslaw was tasty. Both the quesadillas were fairly plan. Not much of a kick or spice to any aspect of the meal. The shrimp dish was good. The plantain... More

Another example of "Portlanders Will Eat Anything." My friend, who had eaten there before, and I, who had not, went there on a recent sweltering weeknight for dinner. There is no air conditioning, and not even a single ceiling fan....zero regard for customers' comfort. My friend had the nopales salad, which she pronounced to be "OK." I had an asada... More

This restaurant was suggested to me by some friends as being as close to authentic Mexican food as you will find in Portland. We were a party of 6, celebrating my birthday. The service was a little slow, in that we arrived at 4:00 PM, when they open for dinner and did not get served until after 5:00. My judge... More

If you are looking for a chips and salsa experience, this might not be what you want. You do not get chips and salsa on your arrival, but there is a great selection of appetizers that you can choose from (even the grasshoppers are good! - but I recommend the shredded pork on corn tortillas). The meal selections are authentic... More

You will be greeted by a skeleton as you enter The Hungry Skeleton. There's a brightly painted school bus in the yard, so you know it's going to be a little different. Friendly staff and an interesting menu. I was happy with my choice of ceviche, with fresh lime Capirinha to drink. One of the party had a cocktail based... More
