Stanich's apparently has a great reputation and I can't for the life of me understand why. I must first say that the waitress and the cook were great! Nice people, attentive, human. My poor rating has nothing to do with the two employees with whom we had contact; no problems there. Their signature food is "The Works" hamburger, and that... More

Wow !!!! Ok kids had to take my gourmet burger aficionado brother in law here for a first time run down memory lane at stanichs.... I was a regular customer at the west side (macadam Ave site) and really really miss these baby's one of my all time favorites. Love the fries....love the sloppy juicy goodness and it all over... THREE visits, and never served -- not even acknowledged! Were they able to see we aren't Portland natives? Did they not like the t-shirts we wore (no wording on them)? Or was it just that the place is so poorly staffed they simply can't take care of everyone. I understand waiting to have food cooked to order. But what does... More

We have been going to Stanich's for years. It is still the best burger in town but the service continues to get worse and worse. Today there was only one person in the whole bar to help. She was serving and cooking. It wasn't very crowded so she should have been able to handle both tasks. There were seven people... More

Dropped in on Stanich's around the first week of March and had a great time. The service was very good and the big burger was just that, big....and delicious. While someone said they don't serve local microbrews, I didn't have any problem getting one that night and everyone in our group was satisfied.

Stanich's isn't for everyone. They don't serve local microbrews. There are no gluten-free options (that I'm aware of). The banners on the walls look like they are covered with grease from the last time the Blazers won the championship. What Stanich's does have going for it is the best burger in Portland. They don't come with any fancy cheeses or... More

This place made a grand tavern burger 45 years ago, and it still nails it. Not fancy, not trendy, slightly evolved from the 1950's in terms of ambience, it was a neighborhood sports bar before sports bars existed. The service is tavern friendly and competent. The fries are not heart healthy, but sometimes grease is not just ok it simply... More

We had originally planned to go to Amalfi's for pizza, but it was closed on Monday, so my BF suggested Stanich's because in the past when he had been there it was "the best burger". Now let me be clear - I like a cool "dive" joint with great food, but this was by far the worst food and service... More

This is not a place for prissy people. It's not chic and there's no hoity-toity wine list, but if you like a yummy sloppy burger and a beer (whether a pedestrian American lager or craftbrew), Stanich's is the place. Not sure about the "staff" complaint by another reviewer, as we witnessed only friendliness and good service.
