It is more hyped than it should be, but the cost of beer makes it forgettable quickly, allowing you to just sit back and enjoy. DO NOT DRINK TOO MUCH THAT YOU CONSIDER STAYING! The food was honestly forgettable. If you just walked 1100 miles, sure, eat up, but the rest of the world may consider other options.

Thru hiking the AT, stopped in the Doyle for a night. The owner's Pat and Vicky are salt of the earth. Great food, good rates, kind people.

In our group we had different burgers, a pork bbq, french fries, soup and wings. All were delicious and we would all order the same items again. Portion size is good too. Prices are moderate. The rolls on the sandwiches were very fresh and tasty. Owners were fun and personable. It is smaller inside with 3 or 4 large tables... More

The Doyle certainly lived up to its reputation. I walked in as an AT hiker and Pat and Charlie took great care of me. The food at the Doyle was fantastic! Pat personally described what he had and how he prepared it, and it came out great. I had steamed clams as an appetizer and his pork chop special, which... More

We stopped here because we heard about how friendly they were to hikers on the AT (Appalachian Trail). The owners could not have been nicer, we asked what they were famous for and he patiently bragged about all the good stuff on the menu and options for our kids. Lots of history here, postings from hikers passing through. Later on... More

The owners run the restaurant themselves, and I must say that they do an awesome job. The service is very personable and the food was extraordinary. If you find yourself in this remote town off the Appalachian Trail, do yourself a favor and go there for a meal - if you're lucky, they'll have their catfish special!

Stayed at the Doyle this May during my section-hike of the Appalachian Trail through Pennsylvania. Although a welcome oasis from the trail and several days of constant rain, the room was somewhat Spartan. "Somewhat Spartan" may be a gift...actually the rooms there are slightly preferable to camping in the woods and probably don't meet the minimum standards of the Bureau... More

While it is true the building is well over 100 years old, the past few owners have allowed it to fall into a state of disrepair. Despite the efforts of the current owners and the supportive citizens of Duncannon, there is still quite a bit of work to be done. That being said, Pat and the staff put out amazing... More

The Doyle has hot water showers, beds, and your own room. With these amenities alone I would rank it highly, however; there is also a bar and great restaurant below your room. Many people I talked to really appreciated the historic nature of the hotel and its reverence of its great historical importance. I recommend the Doyle for anyone interested... More
