The Jackson house is known for burgers but I always get the veggie sub with the very sharp provolone cheese and it is amazing. I highly recommend it!

The Jackson House offers a taste of South Philadelphia in the heart of Harrisburg. They only use top quality meats and cheese sin their sandwiches and burgers. Speaking of burgers, they have been voted best burger in the burg several years running. The selection of Italian Hoagies is outstanding!
Finally made the trip to Jackson House to try there burgers first hand. I ordered my burger medium and it came out medium rare which is OK with me, could be a little disconcerting to others. Fries were homemade and delicious however most of the fries were only like an inch long or less not sure what that was all... More
On a suggestion from the guys at Capital Joe's we had lunch one afternoon. Thank you!!!! The Cheese-steak Hoagie was out of this world. Next time I have to try those roasted red peppers they looked delicious!
A little hole in the wall restaurant directly across the street from the State Museum and a few minutes walk to the Capitol, this restaurant is the place in Harrisburg for burgers. Family run, friendly staff, great service. So, enough about the place; the burgers are cooked to perfection with loads of condiment choices, great fries, and did I say,... More
Looking for an amazing cheeseburger? You found the place. The line will most likely be out the door when you get there. Don't worry it moves at a good pace and the wait is so so worth it. The fries aren't bad either but the cheeseburger is what you must try. This place is cash only and doesn't have more... More
Besides “best burger ‘ in Harrisburg, an award that this restaurant has won numerous times, I would say clearly that this is where you come for the “Freshest Burger in Harrisburg.” You know those healthy eating best selling books by the likes of Michael Pollan and Eric Schlosser, who stress if you have to eat meat, eat it in moderation... Tried the chef salad (twice in one week). Both times the salad was a very nice size and definitely worth the value. Very tasty! Could only eat part of it so each was good for 2 lunches for me. Had to wait a while going on a Friday but if you go with someone, the time passes more quickly. YUM!
Stopped for lunch on my way to the Capitol. Glad I did! It's not fast, but great character, great fries and best burger ever. I'm not sure what they do, but the burger has a crust on the outside and yummy goodness all over. Highly recommended.
