Met colleague for a coffee warm welcome from Jack and the staff. Returned after trip to Lambourn to visit horses and view the gallops for a tasty light lunch. Superb thank you. Carol Lewis

Everytime when we're in England to see our friends and family we try to fit in a visit in the Pheasant. This time we were quite surprised to find it totally done up compared to our last visit. We were lucky to get a table because it was fully booked on Friday noon. The service was quick and our drinks... More

Planning a dinner with friends in a midway point proved to be more taxing than expected. The mission to find decent food around Lambourn / Great Shefford. The Trip Advisor search didn't help as reviews of most places were very mixed. Fortunately, a personal recommendation led us to the Pheasant Inn - which strangely didn't appear in my search. It's... I booked lunch here for a small family meet-up before Christmas as it was handy for two far-flung parties. Although one party were late (mine, sorry again...) the staff were attentive and our orders were taken quickly and with no fuss. My food was **lovely** (pumpkin risotto) and the fish & chips were highly rated. The pub was VERY busy... More

Just a few hundred yards off J14 on the M4, this place is a gem. The car park at 2pm on a Sunday was still full and we were worried about a place to sit as it was obviously popular. We were lucky to find a table and the waiting staff were superb in their attentiveness. Our roast beef and... More

6 of us came for a meal for our 29th Anniversary The food was lovely, could not fault that in any way. When a customer orders a meal, we don't always check for potatoes and veg, so maybe the serving staff could check when taking the order, if we need either. After we had our puddings, no one came to... More

We often visit Letcombe Regis and drive past the road this bar/restaurant/hotel is on. After having read the reviews I figured it might be a good place to lunch at on a Sunday rather than the usual haunts nr Wantage. So glad we did! Busy, buzzy and well maintained. Food excellent, service great and value pretty good too. Cosy little... More

We visit this English Pub fairly regularly and recently took the whole family, including six young children, there for an early early dinner. The organisation was great and all the staff very welcoming despite our chaos. We had pre- ordered our main courses and they were all freshly cooked, served efficiently and all together. There is an excellent children's menu.... More

Bordering the village of Shefford Woodlands, The Pheasant has a hospitality pedigree that stretches back 450 years to when it first sheltered drovers herding livestock from Wales to London. Today, the newly refurbished pub and its eleven en-suite guest rooms offer an adventurous drinks menu, flavoursome modern British cooking, luxurious accommodation with outstanding value - and a warm, relaxed welcome. In January 2016, Jack Greenall became The Pheasant's new landlord and set about launching a new chapter for this well-loved local landmark. A sensitive refurbishment has brought the bar and restaurant a new, relaxed elegance with rich colours, comfortable furnishings and atmospheric lighting. Whether you pull up a vintage leather bar stool, hunker down in our cosy snug with its quirky print gallery and bespoke selection of local and general interest books or join friends at a table in the main dining space, it's a great place to sample our broad and imaginative drinks range and regularly changing menu which showcases the freshest and best local produce and unfussy, flavoursome cooking. Our approach to food is all about bringing together the best ingredients, simply and deliciously. Rooted in classic modern British cooking, our menu showcases the freshest meat, fish, vegetables and fruit and finest artisan products from around the country, while our diverse daily specials let us put local and seasonal ingredients centre stage. And then there's our accommodation, recently added and even more recently refurbished. Our guest bedrooms have all the relaxed, home-from home comfort you'd expect from a country pub, with the minute attention to detail of a smart hotel and a fresh, modern design approach. Elegant fluted armchairs, buttoned ottomans and individually hand-picked artworks are among the characterful features, while bathrooms, two of which have bathtubs as well as high-quality powerful showers, are stocked with indulgent handmade toiletries. All new bookings also include your choice from our full Breakfast Menu.
