A great lunch with great service and great wine. Very knowledgeable sommelier with some great tips. Looking forwards to visiting this restaurant again in the near future.

Have dined several times here when visiting a clergy friend locally. The place is most attractive, the staff and service top-notch and the food delicious. Rather than a large menu there are fewer items - still providing a good selection - that the place concentrates on and does a great job of. Michael, the manager, is charming and gracious, presiding... More

Returned again with friends for a Sunday Lunch birthday celebration, these events started over 30 years ago. Firstly for their wedding reception. This is a beautiful venue, with lawns going down to the river. Nothing changes, always made welcome, good food, very good service, with a smile. Looking forward to 2018!

First dinner at the French Horn for sometime we shouldn't have left it so long. Classical restaurant with french influenced menu and service to match. Very busy but that made no difference to the service we received. A drink in the cosy bar with Ducks roasting in front of the log fire, if it had been warmer then you could... More

Went with friends for an evening meal to celebrate my wife's birthday and to chat before I go away. Fabulous old fashioned place and great location. Welcome was very formal and actually made a change. Food and service was outstanding and although very expensive worth it. In total with drinks costing £100 a head for two courses with wine and... The plate of whitebait is enormous, warm and freshly cooked with a wonderful tartare sauce. There were so many that I couldn't eat them all. The 8oz Rib Eye steak was tasty (albeit medium rare was really very rare) with a fragrant soya based sauce over the steak and vegetables. Very good. The Earl Grey Panna Cotta with Rhubarb and... Nice big restaurant with great cuisine! We had the set menus and surprisingly the portion size was quite large. Overall quality of food was high and service was very detailed.

The French Horn has a fabulous location on the Thames, in the pretty village of Sonning. The traffic waiting to cross the bridge can be problematic. The bar is snug with an open fire where they cook the duck on a spit. Great views of the garden and river from the restaurant table. The set lunch time menu seems reasonable... More

A great afternoon , drinks the terrace prior. We had the private room. Service first class . We preordered our meals from there party menu. The Duck and Lamb were both excellent. The wine as usual very good. Look forward to the next time!
