We had a meal here today having eaten here once last year because the food was so good then.
The starters were generous, the fish was perfectly cooked, tender, moist and full of flavour, and the chips are absolutely perfect.
Oysters were heavenly- they come...with usual shallots and vinegar but I also recommend you try the rosemary pesto sauce served up as an option to go with them, and the muscles were divine.
We are booking again to eat there next week.
The service is prompt and friendly and the prices very reasonable for this high food standard.More
We came for lunch and had the haloumi 'fish' and chips. It was absolutely incredible. So good infact we booked to come back the next day and the last evening of our holiday. So refreshing seeing vegetarian options in a fish bar/grill.
We visited the Catch 4 times over our two week holiday and enjoyed it every single time. The food is always well prepared and some of the meals ( the seafood coconut curry and the Cornish brunch ) are excellent. Also the relaxed casual surfer...vibe is what a holiday on the beach in Cornwall is all about.
As others have said the service can be painfully slow and we even saw an order being cancelled due to a group waiting too long. The wait staff unfairly sometimes get given a hard time and can then get a bit sad and even grumpy. I say this is a bit unfair because the obvious problem is with the kitchen being too small when the restaurant is full inside and out, they simply struggle to cope. I've reduced a star to 4 because of the slow service when the restaurant is full, but as I say don't blame the wait staff.
Overall I would recommend and will certainly go back next time I am in Mawgan Porth.More
Walked over from Newquay having checked opening times and read good reviews. On arrival was advised that they ‚generally stop serving around 1500‘ despite no such indication on their website. Customers sat inside, plenty of tables free, advertised as serving until 2100. Politely requested that...they update their website to provide accurate information to customers. C’mon, it’s not hard ! Went to the pub next door instead which was lovely.More
We came to the catch on a busy Wednesday evening with 6 adults, 1 toddler a baby and 2 dogs. We were moved to a lovely corner table to make sure our visit was comfortable. Food was amazing ( always is) and the service was...great - typical of the catch the waitress (nicole) and the waiters were lovely, she ensured our toddler had crayons for colouring, some fruit which wasnt on the menu just to ensure we had everything we needed. We are a cery particular group and our visit was spot on. Wait time for food and drink was 5-10 min max and the place was full!
Love this place and 100% will return - ps the place is spotless aswell so post covid its a great option!More
We visited tonight whilst on our honeymoon, we were seated straight away even though we were 15 minutes early for booking. Ordered food snd drinks with our fabulous waitress Nicole who couldn’t do enough for us snd when she found out we only got married...on Saturday she delivered us 2 glasses of Prosecco to help us celebrate. The food was beautiful, hot, well presented and cooked to perfection. Would definitely recommend a visit if you are in the area.More
We had a fantastic experience at the Catch. The staff where extremely friendly and welcoming to our group. We had a dog and an under 2 and looked after us brilliantly. Customer service was on point.
The food was amazing. You could clearly see it...was fresh and it tasted amazing.
Would recommend to anyone around the Newquay or Mawgan Porth area.More
We had dinner at Catch. The service was excellent, really helped us when choosing what to eat. The meal itself was amazing, brilliantly prepared with fresh ingredients. It tasted fantastic. We had the grilled catch, was a genuine highlight of our day.
The staff at the catch restaurant should have lessons in customer Service to learn we asked if they was any tables available they said no come back at 5 o’clock in the afternoon we decided to go back five minutes later to book a table...they said that there’s no tables available I found them very very rude and not a good attitude I would not recommend anyone to go to this restaurant I have got my own business I would not have my staff have an attitude towards customers like dated Patricia ThompsonMore
