We visited the restaurant for dinner one evening while staying at the Bedruthan hotel. Unfortunately the meal was disappointing. My partner’s lamb was undercooked. I appreciate that this may be considered the appropriate way to serve lamb, however it wasn’t to his taste. He mentioned...to the waitress that it had been served rare, where he prefers it cooked more thoroughly. She returned it to the kitchen and brought it back a few minutes later, sealed on the outside but still pink inside. Therefore, he only ate the three small hasselback potatoes which was a shame given the costs (and for a grown man after an eight hour car journey!). He did tell the waitress that it was still rare but she didn’t offer any alternative. The attached photos show the second version after it had been back to the kitchen! I opted for a pasta dish, but unfortunately it was far too oily (pesto) so I also didn’t eat much. The surroundings are lovely, but unfortunately I feel the restaurant should accept that they are a hotel restaurant and should therefore cater for a range of tastes, rather than having niche options. There are not many people these days that are prepared to eat meat rare.More

We have had another amazing meal here, complete with a Beautiful view and wonderful service from Yasmin. I had the crab to start (plentiful white crab meat with a subtle dressing), seabass on Indonesian curry and passionfruit creme brûlée. All utterly delicious. All the food...we had including child’s was excellent.More

I splashed out for 3 nights for myself and the kids, dinner and breakfast included. The cheapest they could do was £1050 dinner and breakfast included. Because it looked nice I went for it to treat myself. I did not find it a luxury hotel...worthy of £350 a night, it felt a bit run down and more of an £80 a night place, or like a travel lodge. That is fine, but not if you are paying £350 a night. The sea view room was claustrophobic and overheated and the pool was more like a down to earth public one. I hardly ever leave reviews but I was so disappointed after forking out so much I wanted to ensure that others are more prepared for the standard. Also at check out they had over charged me a few hundred - first of all they had added £85 for a dinner that was meant to be included, and they instantly removed it when I pointed it out. Then I noticed drinks charges for beers and ciders, and the children and I are alcohol free. After combing through the bill it transpired there was several charges here and there that were not ours, adding up to a few hundred pounds. The lady simply apologised and removed each time saying 'human error'. I still ended up having been charged £100 for water. The restaurant staff were lovely and the food was good.More

Beautiful views, spacious, modern and fantastic friendly service. Had an amazing meal here whilst staying at the hotel. Cornish meat platter to start, hake Indonesian curry and vanilla pannacotta. Lovely wine (albeit very expensive). Massively recommend. Very child friendly.

We made a reservation here a week prior to dining, as were staying at a nearby Airbnb. When we made the reservation there was never any question as to whether we were staying at the adjoining accommodation. When we arrived, we were told that the...venue was only open to residents but they had clearly known we weren’t staying as were told they would let us dine. Whilst the service was rapid, £100 for a bottle of wine, 2 mains and a starter is incredibly overpriced. The burger had a 80% bun to content ratio and at £16 was not worth the money at all. The fish had no accompaniments and certainly wasn’t worth the price tag. Appreciate the COVID-19 times, however there was no atmosphere in the venue.More

Just wanted to leave a mention for the wonderfully warm and friendly staff of this hotel. We had a muddle with our room and the service manager Meeche dealt with it superbly, aided by Rose. I want to thank Meeche for her swift resolution, which...added to improve our stay at the hotel. Food also excellent!More

Been trying for 5 days to speak to the hotel. Phone just rings out. No one responds to emails. Slightly concerning as we are attending a wedding here at the end of the month!!!

Despite its beautiful location and fantastic views, we sadly felt that Bedruthan was more of a ‘Travelodge’ with a stunning view. As a local couple, we were hoping for more from our stay’cation. Having booked a family room with a sea view, upon arrival we...found a room with dated decor and small simple four star touches were missing. For example, our room was for four and we were provided with one packet of biscuits. The spa facilities were limited (this was to be expected), we were able to book a 30 minute swimming slot. The reduced access to facilities were not reciprocated in the price; and the hotel was full. One would have hoped that the capacity would have been reduced so that customers could experience everything that Bedruthan had to offer. Especially as room charges remained high. The food at The Herring is delicious, small portions, but ample. Our breakfast was a disappointment. Due to Covid the menu was reduced, but the food available did not cater for a variety of dietary needs. The cooked breakfast was basic - mushroom, egg, a sausage and bacon. The vegetarian option two pancakes with a very light drizzle of maple syrup - dry and flavourless. We filled ourselves up on toast - and had to ask for jam! The staff were very polite and accommodating. We cancelled our second night. It really was a disappointment.More

Mid July, opening up in covid restrictions so bare in mind it might get better....the individual masked staff are great, suspect management lack of attention to detail is the issue. No hard evidence, but 3 nights/ £1500 into our stay haven’t seen anyone who runs...the place ask how it’s going. 90 mins to get breakfast finished after hotel gave us a time slot to help them with social distancing. Option if you don’t want to take timed breakfast slot is a room service delivery (8-8.30 am)of set menu. Maybe choosing a time for delivery would help make the holiday more relaxing? Also seems a bit chaotic with booking some sessions (heated pool) not others (tennis, outdoor pool) and reception and restaurant seemingly using different software? Tennis court run down (net, netting, paint, playing surface), pool table knackered, just playable (wrong size balls, return mech broken, cues on last legs, table needs to move 6 inches to avoid cueing vertically to miss a large pane of glass) Would have thought these were easy jobs for lockdown to make the limited facilities open seem less shabby. Area is fab. It’s good to get away. Things have been ok, but for the price, I’d shop around if more places open up.More

This was a return visit and unfortunately not as good as last time. The hotel itself is first class, despite a shabby exterior. Our room was beautiful and I am glad we paid extra for a sea view as opposed to a car park view....The spa was too busy. Wet towels strewn everywhere, lots of people and so noisy. No room in the jacuzzi and lots of children jumping and diving in to the swimming pool. It felt manic and not at all relaxing. We had a first class casual lunch but dinner in the Herring restaurant was very disappointing. The choice was limited and portion sizes minuscule. Even a bowl of extra veg would have been nice. We were both still hungry afterwards. Breakfast was poor. Flavourless overcooked bacon, hard eggs and really unpleasant sausages that tasted as though they were made of sawdust. Not good. I love the decor in the hotel and the staff are super friendly and helpful. I would visit again but would eat elsewhere.More

I think you have to opt for a spa treatment of some sort or be a guest but I would check direct.
