This restaurant provide lovely three course meal. The menus were repeated with one / two dishes changed but overall we were blown away by the quality of food (and we've eaten at 2 / 3 star restaurants).

A bit disappointed. Setting was great but food was just ok. Service was mediocre (wine arrived after 2nd course after we had asked 3 times, very noisy sorting cutlery etc). They are full until October but they were 3/4 empty when we were there which...was a little strange.More

Went to the scarlet in April and the chef / who had the most incredible girlfriend waitress (Lucy), was amazing. Now they have gone it’s gone down hill and now very average. Such a shame as they had such a good thing going on

(This review is based on experience at dinner and breakfast) From the too-long wait to be greeted and seated to the incredibly uninformative menu and generally poor and slow service it was self-evident that this is a place with major problems. Seriously, his is one...supposed to deduce that a starter simply entitled “Beef” is a tiny portion of beef tartare. The task was made harder by a server who first described it as carpaccio. One of us ordered this to come without mushrooms only to see it arrive smothered in raw ceps. In fairness the tartare itself tasted good though there was no sighting of the listed quail egg. And so it went on. It should also be noted that the starter and main course choices, with one exception, lacked any nutritional balance as only one dish came with a side of carbs. Breakfast was different but no better. The pace of service was very slow. And, one of us was denied access to the so-called Continental breakfast rack until the other had received the porridge that was supposed to have some acquaintance with banana and honey but had none. Weirdly, the porridge portion was enough for four people. Because the hotel could not commit to provide more timely breakfast on the next morning we made the obvious decision to eat elsewhere and this was a good decision. Clearly, though perhaps not to this Management group, there is much scope for improvement.More

I went to the Scarlett for lunch whilst on holiday in Mawgan Porth. Both the service and the food were disappointing. Having been shown to our table we then waited 20 mins without anyone taking our order, in the end I had to ask someone...to come over. After 45 mins we we still had no drinks or starters and at that point we complained. I would have been more understanding if the restaurant was busy but there were several empty tables. When the food did arrive it was disappointing especially for the price we payed for it. My pasta was bland and my husband's Greek salad was very small and simple. The staff were pleasant but not very proactive. The restaurant has an amazing view but unfortunately that was the only highlight of our visit.More

Had afternoon tea. Firstly you are given a menu of what you are to receive which sounds lovely. Unfortunately what we received was not as per the menu and not as good a quality as previously had at the scarlet. Bread was not very good...and better could have been bought at the local supermarket which was also the comment of the couple on the table next to us. At no point were we asked if more tea was wished for and it took over 10 min to try to get someone to get the bill. I have previously stayed here and the service was much better then. After looking forward to the afternoon tea i will not be advising anyone to go here but to go to the hotel endsleigh.More

The service was very good, staff friendly and good sommelier. We had the vegan menu. The food was delicious, obviously fine dining size portions. The mains did very slightly let the menu down, although we both really enjoyed both were lacking in protein (as often...with vegan fine dining). Desserts were good, we were brought the wrong ones initially which caused a slight delay. Cider and wine choice is excellent - be prepared to spend more on drinks than food! The restaurant has a relaxed chic vibe, which is nice and inkeeping with a relaxing spa break. Would definitely recommend.More

Went here for Sunday Lunch on 9th May. Due to COVID restrictions, this had to be outside, and unfortunately on a windy day! So the weather not ideal, but this was more than made up for by this lovely restaurant with a spectacular view. The...food was of an incredibly high level - certainly Michelin quality. The 3 course lunch was £30 each - extremely good value for the quality of food. Yes, extras such as wine are relatively expensive, but this was still a value for money meal. There was no additional 12.5% service charge that is so often elsewhere, the bottled waters were complimentary, and the coffees not ridiculously priced. I would recommend a visit for exceptional food and an enjoyable experience if you are in this area.More
