The dreadful carpark, the unlit sign, the lack of any clear way in (it's like entering the back door) nearly made us leave. But so glad we didn't! Inside is beautifully done, sophisticated dining room, lovely staff and a well stocked bar. Dogs welcome in the bar and conservatory diner. Food was magnificent, from the safe steak to the interesting... More

Had dinner at this restaurant with my family of 6, in February 2017. We cannot fault the food, it was absolutely delicious. We all had 3 courses, and something different. The landlady couldn't be more accommodating to my Nan and Step-Mum's gluten intolerance and went out of her way to make sure they could eat what they wanted. Beautiful restaurant... More

The food here was outstanding! Scallops for starters were beautifully soft, the mains were just as delicious and the banoffee waffle dessert finished the meal off perfectly! My only negative would be that the waitress was a little flustered, even though she was only waiting on us... I think she was just a little inexperienced. We didn't mind though as... More

We booked to stay at the waterwheel, hadn't really taken note when booking, it had a restaurant so this was a lovely surprise, we settle in our very clean and comfortable room, recently been re-decorated very nicely. We did eat in the restaurant, food is served between 6:30 pm and 8:30 pm, the food is delicious, a good menu offering... More

We decided to eat here based on the trip advisor score and comments. We phoned to book as advised on here but when we arrived and asked for our table of 2 we were asked to take our pick of all tables set for 2. unexpected but meant that we did get to choose where we wanted to sit. We... More

Having sought another place for an evening meal that was not too far from where we were staying I came across this place that was only 6 minutes from the premier Inn. I pre booked a table for 7pm and when we arrived we were both amazed at the warm and friendly welcome from the owners and the atmosphere was... More

The Waterwheel Inn was built in the late 1700s. It is steeped in the industrial history of Cornwall as it was once a tin smelting house and then involved in clay drying. It is set in a beautiful wooded valley next to St Austell's White River and just 10 minutes walk from the town. The restaurant has been recently refurbished and is elegant but informal with exposed granite walls, oak floor and a log fire for cold winter evenings. We serve unpretentious, plentiful, freshly prepared meals including a 2 and 3 course menu for £14.95/£17.50, main meals from £10.00 and an a la carte menu with fresh local fish and seafood specials, plus extra mature chargrilled steaks.
