Had dinner with friends here and found the food to be delicious and unique. The menu on Saturday is buffet so you get to sample everything. Food is homemade and very delicious! You definitely need a reservation as the restaurant isn't very big and gets...busy. There is entertainment on Saturday also. The buffet includes several desserts in addition to the many home cooked entree items. If you are looking for something different to try, call and make a reservation and stop by.More
We traveled to Pennsylvania for my sons wedding and not being from the area I had no idea where to go for a rehearsal dinner for 60 people! I wanted a friendly cozy restaurant with great homemade food, reasonably priced, entertainment and something for everyone....I found that and even more at the Darlington inn!!!! I can't say enough on how warm and inviting this restaurant is!!!! The food was freshly prepared and baked and so so delicious, everyone young and old raved about their meal!!! Elizabeth the owner and her daughter Klara took care of us like we were family!!!! They are beautiful people!! The staff was also very accommodating and friendly. Joe Malone AKA Mr Oktoberfest played the accordion for us and WOW what a fun talented artist he is!!!! His music and energy was so contagious everyone got up and danced!! He even does an amazing stairway to heaven on his squeeze box!!! Our evening at the Darlington inn will forever be in our memories and was a wonderful way to kickoff our wedding weekend!!!!! Thank you so much Elizabeth you are the best😘More
Food was outstanding. Service was excellent. Not a bad thing to say about eating here. I was with a party of 4 and we all thoroughly enjoyed our meals, desert as well. A nice touch was a bowl of Hungarian goulash as we sat down...and started to look at the menu and drink menu. I would definitely recommend going here and I will be back often.More
I was very disappointed, right from the start. We were served a soup that was tasteless, loaded with shell noodles. The buffet was small, the food not identified and greatly overcooked. The meatballs were hard, over cooked and I'm not sure of its composition. I...didn't know what I was eating, nor did I take much on my plate as it did not look appetizing and mashed up. The service was okay, the folks friendly, the desserts - some good, the cheese cake tasted horrible (cut into squares from a large sheet pan). The other desserts were okay, but the buffet looked sloppy and unappealing. I was a guest, so I didn't know what the pricing was. They had someone playing an accordion - way to load and it was annoying. You could not have a conversation and be heard. The over-loud music was not a bit soothing but an outright nuisance. My first and last visit to this place.More
The food is fabulous! Authentic Hungarian, from soup to dessert (don't forget to make room for the kreme). The staff is wonderful, so accommodating. The owner/cook comes out during your meal to make sure all is well.
I stopped by to see the inn since my mother and father have dined here before. If my mother says it is good Hungarian cooking, then it is.
The owner was rather nice. Do not judge the restaurant by a first impression. When I walked...in the door there were locals at the bar eating. It is a respectable restaurant and my friend said that the food at the dining room to the right was where they threw a big bereavement gathering and everything was great.
Unfortunately, I did not have any cash on me, so I look forward to coming back with my husband or parents. The greeting and customer service was very good. They gave me a paper menus to take with me. They serve Polish and other ethnic food too, along with basic American fare.
The restaurant is off of route 30 near one of the Idlewild Park entrances. Make sure to look up hours online. It is a quaint family run business.More
We have heard about this restaurant for many years. We finally journeyed to Ligonier to meet friends for dinner at Darlington. The food is fabulous. Although I've had cabbage rolls/"pigs-in-a-blanket many times before, the Transylvanian versions was a wonderful surprise. Not only is the food...fabulous, the staff treats you like family. The portions are more than ample. I would recommend stopping for a truly ethnic meal. Make sure you have cash. No credit cards or checks. There is an ATM machine on the property.More
We were passing through the area on our way home to Indiana, looking for something different. Darlington Inn was off the beaten path (off of Lincoln Highway), but highly rated. Eastern European food. As soon as we were seated, our server brought us piping hot...bowls of homemade chicken noodle soup and fresh bread. My husband ordered pork and sauerkraut goulash and drop noodles. I had pierogi. Best I've ever had! Service was friendly and prompt. Food was freshly prepared and delicious! Owner/chef came out to check on us. Definitely worth the "out of the way" location!More
This place was recommended by one of my clients to try while I was in town. So good that I ate there twice during my visit. Food was amazing and the family that worked there were extremely friendly. A must stop if your in the...area.More
