Perfect for special occasion (on the casual side) or group get together type gatherings. I've been there 3x and all 3 were really satisfying. They have a significant selection of craft beers on tap. Only caution is they seem to be getting a bit too unique. Several of their draft beers are served in Snifters. I just want a standard... More

I met a friend here, and was surprised by how busy the bar side of the restaurant was. It was nice that there was some quieter seating on the other side, and no wait for a table. Our server was very friendly, and helped me choose a beer that I enjoyed and allowed me time to linger over it as... More

I love that we can make a reservation; the service is good, and the food is really good! Every time I go, I try something new and it's all been good. You can get different food here that you won't find at the other restaurants in this area. you must try the superfood dip for appetizer; it's amazing. The portobello... More

This place has been a favorite since it opened. The happy hours have great beer specials, and the appetizers have been very good for the buck. However, service has been slower and slower, particularly with 2 long term employees, and it has become difficult to find a seat . It's unfortunate, particularly with the service, because in the past even... More

My friend took me here for my birthday & I was very impressed with the quality of the food, the flavor & freshness & taste! I would not hesitate to come back, there were many items on the menu to choose from, had a hard time ordering as I wanted one of each!

I had wanted to try this local restaurant for a while, and my daughter and I decided to go for lunch. It was a disappointing experience. We waited almost 30 minutes for our sandwiches, and the restaurant was only about 1/3 full. We noticed that no one else was getting their food quickly either. When the food finally came, my... More

We were part of a large group of 25+ diners. They were very accommodating and did their best. Two servers were assigned to us which was probably not enough. Drinks often went dry. The appetizers and desert were the highlight of the meal. Flatbreads and a Crab dip were fantastic. The main course itself left us with four choices. Steak,... More

We found this restaurant when we were looking for a nice double-date location relatively close to our house so we didn't have to travel down to the city. With it showing up on the same list as Legume when searching for restaurants I was hoping for more in terms of fine food... and with's craft beer selection I was hoping... More

Description
Breakneck Tavern is an American restaurant with influences of Southern BBQ and Cajun foods. We are conveniently located on Route 228 in Mars, PA. Breakneck Tavern sits along the Breakneck Creek next to the railroad tracks in the valley that was once "nick named" the Breakneck Valley by the railroad companies that delivered goods here many years ago. We brought the rich history this valley offers into our restaurant with murals painted of the Velte Foundry that once stood in our location and a map of the famous Harmony Shortline route. Other accents can be found in the restaurant like antique railroad rail, railroad spikes, reclaimed windows, reclaimed wood and reclaimed antique barn doors. From start to finish we have been dedicated to Sustainable Construction. Our dedication to sustainability can be found in our construction materials, supplies and demolition process. During the Demolition all removed materials were recycled at Jon Garvin Salvage Yard. Many reclaimed materials were used from the old Building that once stood in our parking lot. The face of our bar is constructed of reclaimed lumber from the building that once stood in our parking lot. The windows that divide our bar and dining room came from that same building, as well as the large Barn Doors that close off our Private Dining Room. Throughout the construction process we chose as many sustainable building components as possible. Those components include, but are not limited to, ATAS International Sustainable Roofing Products, complete LED lighting package, Concrete countertops, Ecolab Sustainable dish Chemicals, Eco Friendly take packaging, Energy Star rated hot water tank/plumbing products. Water saver fixtures were installed in the restrooms and kitchens. Our dedication to Sustainability continues in our menu, kitchen supplies and chemicals. Our menu offers a large selection of Sustainable Seafood and Farm to Table responsible ingredients. Our chemicals are purchased from Eco-Lab a world leader in Sustainability. Our cleaning products and take out containers are Eco/Earth friendly. We have 40 beers on tap and many are from local craft distilleries with dedication to the same Sustainable process. When possible we choose paperless/electronic bill management and even advertise electronically to reduce bulk paper waste. We are open seven days a week lunch and dinner for your enjoyment of our responsible restaurant.
