We have three Italian restaurants in a 3 mile section of our tiny rural community (why?) but Sal's is the best by far! This is a family-operated restaurant that truly appreciates their local, repeat customers. The owners give me and my family the VIP treatment every time.

I haven't really sat down in the restaurant and eaten in there, but we did order take out food on two different occasions recently, and the food was very, very good. No complaints. Sandwiches were delicious and the rolls the sandwiches were on were different than the type hoagie/sub roll. They were much better! More like true Italian bread that... More

Stopped into this place totally randomly on the way home from a doctor's appointment, deciding to take the long, scenic route back home. Family was skeptical when we went in because the looks of the place aren't top notch, but what we received was the most top notch Italian meal in my 38 years of eating at Italian restaurants. And... My mother is Italian. Not the Olive Garden type of Italian but the type that takes all day to prepare sauce. The Alfredo had good flavor, but the chicken was pink inside and bland. The white pizza was decent and also heavy on the garlic but what made this the worst was the garlic knots. We ordered garlic bread and... More

Being a former NJ resident and frequent NYC visitor, its hard to fond food that compares to the big city food. This does. I have been here a few times now, and each time better than the last. The bread is homemade, the ingredients are fresh, and every meal is bursting with flavor. If you live around here or are... More

Met a girlfriend here for lunch and had a great meal. The chef made my friend the tuna fish fresh to order and put it on fresh bread. She raved about the sandwich. The french fries were fresh cut potatoes, nothing prepackaged or frozen. I ordered a small stromboli and it was great! We each took 1/2 of our meals... More

This little strip mall gem would be worth a 2 or 3 hour drive. We drove 20 minutes based on the reviews here, and were well rewarded! The food is as authentic as you can get. The Mozzarella, we guessed, is made in house, and the Chef confirmed that. Highest quality Olive Oil, Tomatoes and Artichoke Hearts made up their... More

On the way home, I stopped for a sandwich at this unassuming, small italian restaurant/pizza shop. I asked for a tuna and tomato on sub roll. The chef, who is the owner, asked if I'd like one of his freshly baked rolls which had just come out of the oven, a new version with an egg wash on top. "Sure,"... More

Incredible Italian cuisine in what looks from outside to be a common pizza joint. The "small" calzone ($5) could have fed three people. The rolls for the meatball subs (I think they call them heroes around there) were on homemade bread that was so good my dinner companions were swooning. The Caprese salad was a masterpiece, featuring besides fresh mozzarella:... More
