We went to Casbah for my son's birthday. I ordered the sea bass, my husband ordered the swordfish, my son ordered duck and his girlfriend ordered a pasta dish with chicken. All were truly excellent. Appetizer portions are smallish. recommend that everyone order an appetizer and share if you want. Get the scallops if they are on the menu. We ordered dessert afterwards. I recommend the vanilla cheesecake and the blondie. Some ice cream flavors are created by the chef. The wait staff was incredibly attentive. It was my son's birthday - they wrote Happy Birthday in chocolate on his dessert plate. Nice touch! Valet parking is offered. The valet parking lot is directly beside the restaurant. Dress is business casual. I don't recommend jeans. Entrees were reasonably priced. Mid range to fine dining I suppose.

Excellent Dinner! Visited for two birthday dinners. New menu items recently added. Charred octopus appetizer was excellent. We selected the duck fixed two ways, roast chicken, salmon and filet. All high quality ingredients and prepared perfectly. Nice wine list with many by the glass. Our server, Brent, was very knowledgeable, professional and knew exactly how to take care of us.

We were staying in Pittsburgh on a Sunday night and wanted a nice dinner. It was difficult to find a restaurant that was open (thanks Covid) but we found Casbah. It was a perfect choice! Our waiter Nate was very efficient and kind. The menu, both food and drink, was diverse and interesting. We had burrata with prosciutto, grilled peaches and heirloom tomatoes for an appetizer which was delicious. For dinner I had pasta with scallops and crab meat; my husband had pasta with spicy sausage and baby clams. It is was very good just not very spicy. We both had the small portion which we loved that they had 2 sizes because neither of us can eat a large serving. For dessert we shared a cream brûlée with peaches and granola. Again, very good (but would have been even better if peaches were warm). The service was attentive but not rushed. We will return the next time we are in Pittsburgh.

This place is Italian and not Mediterranean. For the price the food is Ok. My Orichette had bland pasta and the chicken was precooked and cold. Service was good but valet will aggressively solicit you tips despite being a free service. There are better restaurants out there in Pittsburgh and I will not be returning.

I had high expectations for Casbah and they were not met what so ever. It was not a good experience at all. The service was poor we waited for 15 minutes for the server to come, once she took our order she only came back maybe 2 times. It felt like we were ignored while the other tables around us seemed to be visited much more (probably because they were drinking alcohol and we were not). To make matters worse I was charged full price for what seemed like a half pasta (it was very small) that was not that great (the scallops were over cooked). I do not think I will go back for a high end restaurant, I expect high end service and it was not that.

It seems to me a restaurant that advertises breakfast would be capable of making a poached egg, but this was not the case at Casbah. It is a simple 3to 4 minutes, and poached eggs are perfect, but both my eggs were so raw I had to wonder if they had been cooked at all. Needless to say I was afraid to eat raw eggs, so I could not enjoy the lamb served underthe eggs.

I had dinner in Casbah with my family just a few days ago. Casbah is considered one of the best restaurants in Pittsburgh. The place is a bit noisy but not a deal breaker if you are not looking for a romantic dinner The bread and the dips at the beginning were very good. As appetizer, we ordered baba ganoush that had a very blunt taste and it was accompanied by a corn-based bread that was tasteless. The shrimp calamari was decent but not adequately salted. We also ordered an arugula salad that was quite dry There was a large time gap (close to 25 minutes) between the time we finished the appetizers and the time we had our entrees served. We ordered grilled chicken that was mediocre, a filet mignon that was overcooked and a swordfish that was “just ok”. We had a sangria that IMHO should be served with real pieces of fruit in it (not juice) and a cocktail that was nice The service was professional and attentive. We paid $220 (taxes-tip included). In conclusion, it was a decent dinner choice but for the quality of the food served to us and the price tag, I would sadly say that the restaurant is over-rated. I will try again and I will hopefully have a better experience to share!

Tuna tartare delicious. I highly recommend. Not that filling, though. Pumpkin ravioli also delicious. Small appetizer; not that filling. Loved the labneh and sourdough bread. The coconut cheesecake I do not recommend; enjoyed the coconut crust but disliked the cheesecake itself. Noise level outdoors in a "quiet" corner table was so high that my husband and I couldn't hear each other. Indoors seemed even noisier. And service, while friendly and helpful, was slower than I would have liked. If I were judging just the food, I would have given them 5*. Valet parking.

Husband and I were there for brunch last Sunday. Had been to Casbah many times for dinner and were quite pleased. The food and the service were very good at brunch BUT we were appalled when a woman came in with a DOG in a stroller! The hostess rolled her eyes and whispered to us "We don't allow dogs." Then she and her dog were seated next to us! Immediately we asked for a different table and were reseated. I could see the woman and her dog as she proceeded to FEED the dog from her plate. Isn't this a health code violation? For this reason we were very disappointed!

My wife and I had dinner here. We both started out with their black walnut Manhattan's, which were quite good (we know Manhattans). She then ordered the roasted beet salad and a half dish of the branzino, while I ordered the tuna tartare and a half dish of the ricotta cavatelli. I had the cab/zin paraduxx, while my wife had a sauvignon blanc with dinner. We shared the dark chocolate-red raspberry bread pudding for dessert. The food was delicious, the wine was very good and the service was excellent. Our waiter was attentive and charming without being intrusive. And he made sure our water glasses were constantly filled. We would highly recommend this restaurant.

We have eaten here on other visits to Pittsburgh and truly enjoyed it. This time was way off. The service was very, very slow…the waiter indifferent and ignored us …the food was not good. Two of us ordered nt he lamb rigatoni and the cubes of lamb were like little sugar cubes. The duck was fine. We were truly disappointed and were with locals who go regularly and also found the evening off key.

For a much needed night of an excellent meal and supercharged drinks, I brought my 94yo Mom to Casbah, and they did not disappoint! Mom had the Lamb Shank which was very tender and flavored perfectly. I ordered the Filet Mignon (medium rare of course) and it was seared to perfection. The au jus was a perfect touch for dipping my bread. We ordered assorted appetizers Muhammara & Hummus and multiple orders of martinis and Vodka & OJ. The waitstaff was very attentive and interacted and chatted with us if we needed. We were never rushed and we left the restaurant happy, giggly...and it was a slow ride home....She can't wait to go back and neither can I!

The menu had some offerings different from the everyday but also some favorites. There was something for each of the three of us. The dinners, (swordfish and chicken) were very good if just slightly overcooked which seems to be usual nowadays but the soup and appetizers were outstanding. If it's not overcrowded which it usually seems to be it seems you can choose the atmosphere you'd like to eat in. The main dining area we walked through was bustling and lively but we were taken downstairs to a cozy comfortable more intimate lounge type area that was just perfect for us. We will definitely return.

We had a baby shower in their private room, they were very accommodating and gave us such a wonderful experience. The food and the staff were amazing. This is one of our favorite restaurants that’s why we decided to host our party here. I would highly recommend Casbah to everyone for their private event or just to dine.
