We were seated at 6 pm and received our food at 7. Then another 15 minute wait for ketchup and refills on drinks. Waitress said they were busy but there were empty tables. She even said my sandwich went to another customer. The food was average at best. It was a frustrating experience and I stood at the counter for... More

I have fond memories of Tom's Diner on the South Side so I was excited to try the original store. The atmosphere is tired. Food is hit or miss. The fish sandwich was good, the coleslaw too sweet, gyro salad just okay, lemon soup good. Might want to come back to try breakfast. Service was okay.

Tom's Diner has average, but cheap, food, but Tom's Diner holds a special place in the South Hills of Pittsburgh. It is so centrally located in Dormont, and open through the night, that it has evolved into a great around the clock hang out. A friend of mine informed me that Tom's spectacular pile of gyro meat and french fries... More

My wife and I stopped here after a football game. She ordered a wrap and I ordered a salad. The food was decent but the diner has lost its way. Hard to explain it, but I will probably look elsewhere for my late night eats (this place used to be 24 hours but no longer).

The building is run down, and service was slow. A family of regulars (I asume as the waitress knew their names), that ordered their food after us was finished before we were served ours. The iceberg salad was about 50 percent core. A little pricey as a chicken sandwich and chicken parm with 2 drinks was $30.

I ate breakfast and lunch here on different days. Breakfast was great, eggs bacon toast, perfect diner food! Gyro for lunch was fantastic, tender spiced lamb with a well made taziki sauce!

Tom's Diner in Dormont has been a tradition for me to stop by for years. The meals are always fast, the service friendly and the prices reasonable. We stopped by on Sunday morning while passing another Dormont breakfast restaurant with a long line out front. Tom's was waiting for us to arrive with an open booth and a nice hot... More

I have mostly just eaten late night breakfast food here and I have 2 words for you...Gyro Omelet. Actually, all the breakfasts are diner-great. They do a decent take on a "Primanti's Sandwich" ripoff but I haven't tried any other lunch/dinner food.

Since I work nearby, whenever I get a hankering for breakfast for lunch I eat at Tom's. The service is generally pretty fast and the food is decent. It's a little pricier than it used to be, but what isn't, except for gas? To my disappointment, they have eliminated the Seniors menu.

Excellent service, excellent soup, greek salad and sampler platter. Breakfast always tasty. Gyro meat could have used some flavor. Fries looked good. Nice atmosphere. Just a good place to eat, day or night.
