When I say great fish sandwich, I mean it. This is one of the best fish sandwiches I've ever had and I've eaten a lot of them. The bread on the sandwich was nice and soft. The fish was flaky with a great batter on it. The batter wasn't under cooked or too thick (some places have very doughy beer... More

This place is a combination of food store, restaurant, and tourist trap in one building. There are numerous choices of seafood available for purchase. The restaurant serves up fresh dishes to order. The train runs constantly. Beware the 1 pound fish sandwich - it's huge.

This is a supermarket that specializes in fish. They have a takeout counter and upstairs tables for you to eat at. Cheap eats. I had a seafood gumbo that was incredible. The fish sandwiches were made from fresh fish and battered. Interesting place to walk around and take in the sights and smells. Also have a fresh sushi bar in... More

Lunch today with great inventive bloody Mary's and then great oysters, cod and salad. Great food and service and fresh fish that we all enjoyed. Try this place if you are a seafood lover.

Wholey's is primarily a place where you buy fresh seafood to bring home to cook, but they also have a sushi bar and a cafeteria style line where you can purchase prepared seafood and seafood sandwiches. The prices are great for the prepared food (most of it is deep fried) and I doubt that you leave hungry. This place is... More

Wholey's Market is a fantastic place to visit. The fish sandwiches are the best in Pittsburgh on fresh Mancini's buns. Try the sushi too! Love the market with all the different types of fish as well as other types of seafood, chicken and meat. Everything is so fresh and the employees are friendly and helpful. This is a family business... More

Wholey's is a local, family owned, Pittsburgh treasure ... providing fresh seafood, meats, poultry, produce, and grocery ... both retail and wholesale throughout the tri-state area. People come from far and wide to shop and eat. There is a counter to buy cooked seafood & sides for take-out or eating in upstairs dining room. There is even a fresh sushi... More

Management response:

Hello, Richard. Sorry to hear of your bad experience. We do weigh the fish on each of our sandwiches for consistency. Maybe you were expecting our one pound Wholey Whaler made of Whiting and instead got our half-pound Icelandic Cod sandwich or half-pound whiting. As for our bread, we do get it fresh daily from the bakery next door -... More
