Four of us visited the establishment. All of the meals were delicious. Special of the night was Wienerschnitzel and it tasted just as it did in our recent trip to Germany.

Peanut Bar is perhaps Reading, PA's best known restaurant, both in the area and beyond. It has been a fixture of Reading dining for decades and, with each passing year, it only gets better. The restaurant is dimly lit and charmingly dingy. Peanut shells are strewn on the floor; thus the name of the establishment. Chairs and table cloths are... More

If you enjoy casual dining with a flair in an atmosphere that allows you to throw peanut shells on the floor then you will enjoy the Peanut Bar. It never fails to satisfy and is well worth a visit.

We were to the Peanut Bar many times in the 1980s but had not visited since then. It's amazing things haven't changed, some in a good way and others, well... Peanut shells on the floor, same as the old days !, great!! Unfortunately the food recipes are still from that time period, lots of butter in the sauce. The food... More

This place has great history but not a lot of great food. The charm is there but the items we had were about average for this dinner. I feel like I could get the same food at a lot of places. I don't regret going here due to the history. The quinoa peanut soup was worth the trip. The cheese... More

My daughter and I arrived in town early for the concert. Checked into our hotel early then looked up local restaurants. Chose this restaurant because of location to concert. Very friendly staff , food was good, peanuts a nice touch and priced reasonably. Off street parking in the back. Daughter highly recommends the chicken buffalo cheese steak, very hot but... More

This is my kind of place!! Really good food, great selection of beers and good value for money. The place is divided up into a few "sections" inside so you don't feel like you're in the middle of a field like in some other restaurants. If you want to bring a friend or two for drinks, the long bar is... More

My husband and I enjoyed a delicious dinner to celebrate Valentine's Day at our favorite restaurant in downtown Reading. The atmosphere is so unique and we love have fun crunching the peanut shells on the floor as we come and go. We had our picture taken by the staff and received a complimentary gift card for future visits. We love... More

My spouse and I visited The Peanut Bar for drinks and a snack on a Saturday afternoon in late October 2016. The restaurant is located on Penn Street in downtown Reading near the Santander Arena. The Peanut Bar is open for lunch, dinner, and drinks Monday through Saturday (closed on Sunday). The restaurant accepts reservations by telephone. The restaurant offers... More

Saturday nite, bit of a crowd and a large party seated in the other room, waitress was supposed to be a bartender but due to busy schedule she stood in at waitress and did an incredible job. Food was GREAT! Started with the cheese balls, man, I NEED THAT RECIPE!!! Then my wife did the crab cake while I did... More

Description
Featured on the Travel Channel, this classic Reading landmark has been serving up plenty of fun and peanuts since 1924. Great American cuisine ranging from casual to gourmet. Voted "the Best in Berks" in numerous categories. Chosen 1 of USA TODAY's Top 10 Restaurants in the Nation for Wings! Reservations suggested. Plenty of attended off-street parking. Family friendly-casual atmosphere. Yes, you can still throw peanutshells on the floor. The Peanut Bar Restaurant, where peanuts are just the beginning!
