My wife and I enjoy the many outstanding restaurants that Rhode Island has to offer , an we are fortunate to live in a state that has the best seafood in the US. That said, the ingredients are just the start, the preparation is of course the thing. Mathew macCartney is a superbly talented chef and host . His preparation... More

FISH is like no other restaurant in New England. When the weather's warm you can sit out on a large open patio and enjoy designer pizzas made in the oven right on the spot. The small bar on the second floor is more of a local secret. As you walk up the stairs a view of the Newport Bridge seems... More

This is a great spot, especially on a quiet winter Sunday morning in Jamestown (then again every winter Sunday morning on Jamestown is quiet). The atmosphere is understated and relaxed, the menu has something for everyone, the food is truly wonderful, and the service is professional. Thought the seafood stew was especially exceptional. Everyone enjoyed their meals and we had... More

I found the food fussy and the servings portions small. The service slow and inattentive. I have eaten down stairs and in the bar area upstairs. Twice upstairs I thought the bar tender and the wait staff forgot about us. The seafood sausage years ago was smelly and the linguini and clams was no different that what I could make... More

When an eatery does it right, it is simply wonderful, and Jamestown Fish does it right. The menu offers varied seafood and American choices--from hamburgers in the bar upstairs, to appetizers and entrees in the five-star dining room, with service that is elegant and knowledgeable. We had mentioned it was our anniversary and the chef sent out some roasted squash... More

We had dinner at Jamestown Fish over Thanksgiving weekend 2016. After we shared a dozen delicious Rhode Island oysters, I had the scup in homemade green curry sauce on a bed of celeriac and spinach. The fish was cooked perfectly, with a salty, crispy exterior. The curry was so tasty I wanted to lick the plate. Then for dessert, I... More

For date night, my husband and I decided to try our Jamestown fish during Newport Restaurant week. We made a reservation fairly easily and arrived prior to the reservation. We were seated fairly quickly and did not have to wait. We both opted for the restaurant week menu and overall the food was good. The menu seemed limited for the... More

A terrific restaurant. We ate outside on their patio which had a limited, but still delightful, menu. Highly recommended!

I was a little apprehensive about making a second trip to Jamestown Fish. Our first visit, in July 2015, was extraordinary. Would it live up to the memories? Yes it would. With the changed season we were greeted by a menu that included cold-weather fish and vegetables and sauces that were more robust and complex. For starters, I had Cape... More

The food and service at fish is outstanding. I love the octopus. The wine list is also fabulous as well as the cocktails.
