Cozy, friendly atmosphere with lots of counter space; it's easy to talk to your neighbors. Good cafe fare. I've been here twice, never had to wait long and it's great for a quick meal.

We stumbled into this restaurant and so glad we did. Great soup and sandwiches. The charcuterie plate was wonderful! It is small and busy but service is fast but not pushy. Very casual we sat at the bar which is most of the restaurant. Beer and wine. Very authentic

Every trip I take to Charleston, be it business or pleasure, I always make sure to find the time to stop by Gaulart & Maliclent. I have never once had a bad meal or experienced bad service. Everyone is always friendly and ready to help. I have taken meat eaters and vegans and everyone has always been pleased. This is... More

Clearly, this place caters to locals with very good food and friendly atmosphere. It's small, with mostly bar seating, but the food was top notch. We stopped in on a whim because we were hungry after spending hours in various galleries. They had a soup and sandwich special with a glass of house wine for a small price, I think... More

We tried Gaulart and Maliclet for a quick lunch on a recent Saturday afternoon. Patrons sit "family style," so you will get to know your neighbors. Get the lunch special. Ours was a sandwich and salad combination that was the perfect portion and included a glass of wine, all for less than $10. The location on Broad Street is convenient... More

The atmosphere is quite nice. The food samples that we were given were bland. The history of the restaurant was interesting.

More a local find, tourists are not likely to stumble upon this quirky, hidden gem. Known to locals as G and M or Fast and French, it is a French focused bistro in a 1950s lunch room setting. Everyone sits at the counter that winds back through the narrow space. Friendly, warm, and energetic. The menu is simple but everyone... More

We enjoyed a sweet, unhurried breakfast of coffee, tea and croissants in this very personal and pleasant cafe. It had been recommended by people in our hometown, and we were so happy we visited! We would certainly go back again to try lunch and dinner there!

We decided to go here for dinner as it seemed like a small and cozy restaurant. We entered and there were two small groups ahead of us. They said that had been waiting awhile so we decided to ask the hostess the wait time. Ten minutes later....no hostess. Too busy for us I guess. The couple in front of us... More

I had the Provençal sandwich & salad. It was ok. The baguette for the sandwich was mediocre, and the tomatoes tasted like they were fresh from the tasteless section of a standard grocery store; not a farm-to-table experience. Given the strong reviews I'd seen, I was surprised & expected much better.
