I love German food, but was reluctant to try this place because of bad reviews, but some friends insisted. The food was amazing and the price was not bad. I absolutely loved our waitress. One lady I assumed to be an owner or her family member was nasty and rude, but not to us, just to our waitress. The room... More

First, the word Stammtisch means "invited to one's table"; now that that is out of the way, on to the food. If you have time to eat one meal in Columbia, SC eat it at this wonderful German restaurant. I had the Jagerschnitzel, spatzles & red cabbage, and my wife the same. Miss Julia provided more then GREAT FOOD, for... More

People, when you're in Columbia, SC, you MUST come here for great German cuisine! I've eaten here several times and haven't been disappointed a single time. Julia offers authentic seasonal German beers on tap, veal dishes that are so tender you can cut them with your fork. If you blow thru Columbia & don't visit Julia, you really don't know... More

Love to try German restaurants and this one had truly authentic tasting food. The beers were cold and served quickly. Food hot and tasty! You have to be prepared to pay cash only - the dining room looks like it was brought over from Germany, during the cold war. The food was worth the visit.

The food is pretty good, the ambiance is kitschy but that's pretty common for German restaurants in the US. The service can be a bit slow at times during the core dinner hours, but that's understandable from a smaller, mom&pop type of establishment. The food is very schnitzel-centric but the sausages aren't too bad either.

You will never eat Schnitzel more delicious than this! We took the family there and were treated with super hospitality! We will go back again soon. Even the pickiest of eaters can find a good meal there. We like to go early to get a really good seat. Save room for dessert because Julia makes the best! You will want... More

Very disappointing dinner. We love German food, and I cook German food, so we are quite picky when it comes to that. I understand recipes are different in the various regions of Germany, but this seems Americanized to me. We ordered the potato pancake with applesauce. They were not potato cakes that I know, but the German pancake...like the large... More

Don't expect a fancy building, but don't let the outside of the building keep you from enjoying the best of German foods. My favorite is Jager Schnitzel with mushroom gravy, German salad, other sides, and homemade deserts. Their tea is great. The German music provides a German atmosphere, along with the German pictures and wall hangings. Everything we have had... More

We brought visitors here recently who were thrilled to find authentic German food of such excellent quality in this unexpected locale. They raved about the schnitzel and saurkraut for the rest of their stay. I had the potato soup for the first time and added yet another 'must have' to my dinner order. We're clearly fans and have never been... More

Found this German restaurant on trip advisor and based on the reviews decided to try it. We are both of German heritage and grew up with grandmothers cooking German dishes. We called from the hotel and were told we did not need a reservation. It was a little early as far as dinner goes but we were greeted warmly and... More
