About
Just a few steps from Falls Park, Pomegranate on Main serves authentic Persian cuisine with exceptionally flavorful beef, chicken, lamb, shrimp, salmon and veggie kabobs and basmati rice entrees, stews and starters. The entrees are gluten-free and naturally healthy. Owner and entrepreneur Ali Saifi learned Southern hospitality in his native Iran long before settling in Greenville, S.C., and opened the restaurant as a gift to the community that celebrates the Upstate’s melting pot of cultures. Enjoy a bistro-style atmosphere in our main dining room or open-air patio with water wall.

Beautiful and romantic restaurant. Probably best job of any restaurant at socially distanced tables (left some vacant). Wine list included Slovenian wine! Delicious and healthy food. Try the appetizer trio - hummus was beautifully spiced (still want to know whether cloves or nutmeg or something else?) as was eggplant and spinach. Loved the chicken kabob with cranberry rice. They charge for a split fee ($6) but it is worth it. Great atmosphere and wonderful servers.

Reservations are a must, arrived at 530 as they opened. Hostess seemed really put out we were there. Things looked up when server arrived. Had cucumber yogurt dip and roasted eggplant for appetizers, simply wonderful. Placed our orders for chicken stew, beef stew, steak and lamb, everyone around the table raved about their dishes. Had really nice reisling, the wine by the glass selection was top notch. Once food dropped off never saw the server again until it was time for the check and quick offer of dessert, we declined dessert.

Was my first time to Pomegranate and it surely will not be my last. My server, Miranda, was very attentive to my requests and questions regarding the menu. I had a hummus appetizer with a garlic finish and warm pita accompanied by a cup of creamy spinach soup. My entrée was chicken torsh which was fantastic with a variety of spices that made for quite a culinary experience.

I love Persian food, and Pomegranate absolutely nailed it. The chicken kabob, seasoned to perfection, was also perfectly juicy. My wife loved her wrap, notably also filled with chicken. The pita and mint leaves which they brought out complimentarily were a nice touch. Loved the Persian hot tea. Felt like this was the real deal, as much as one could expect in Greenville. Definitely would return in a heartbeat!

I ordered lamb chops with rice and a piece of tomato for $39. the lamb was very dry and bland and had no flavor. it was over priced what I received. I was still hungry afterwards. a more appropriate price would’ve been around $26-$28. I did not receive value. It was a waste of my $. the service was extremely slow as the server waited on several tables on both sides of the Restaurant. I may go back, but I wouldn’t order this again. I’ve had better at ruth chris.

Dear Hermanderpal, We love nothing more than to satisfy every guest. It disappoints us that we could not meet our and your expectation of a wonderful dining experience. Should you decide to give us another try, please let me know and I’m happy to make a reservation for you as our guest. While your 1-star review is unfortunate, we are grateful for your visit and the opportunity to listen and respond. This is our favorite Greenville restaurant. Live music on certain nights, discounts on bottles of wine on certain nights, and always excellent food. Very good service, we always look forward to tasting their wonderful lamb again. Walking distance to the Peace Center and the Hampton Inn Riverplace. Superb.

We dined in the courtyard and were pleased with a offering of pita bread pieces, mint leaves, unsalted butter and feta cheese. The waitress informed us that the sumac spice is then shaken on top. The menu has their entrees paired with a suggested wine, and their wine selection is quite varied. I had the chicken torsh kabob and my husband ordered the tenderloin shish kabob. They were generous servings and the rice is especially good. I expected a bit more zip from the chicken, but it was very tender. We were too full for a dessert, but the options looked good.

We had dined there previously but the food was mediocre this time. The meat had little flavor and was expensive in proportion to quality. I do not recommend the chicken, it was dry and rubbery. The beef was somewhat better. We won't be returning.

This place was very fresh and very good. The eggplant sauce with rice was delicious. I had the grilled chicken Mediterranean salad and it was so fresh and delicious. My daughter had the chicken pita wrap and my husband a son had the beef sirloin chinch wrap. Everything was delicious and fresh. The only reason I gave it 4 stars and not five was the hummus was dry and not great. And the amount of bread given with it was no where near enough unless you’re putting a tbsp on each triangle.

The title says it all! Plus we sat by a window to watch the snowfall! Some of the items we had - beef kabobs, chicken kabobs, lamb shank, rack of lamb and of course their Pomegranate Martini. On our last visit we had leftovers to bring back home. Still delicious! Our server Zach was very prompt and helpful. Thanks to the Pomegranate on Main for allowing us to have such a memorable mini vacation to Greenville.

Dined here tonight. Sat outside on the sidewalk ( not courtyard) and it was great. All the staff was on their game and our server was super friendly, so helpful and did a great job checking on us. We started with the oh so authentic, creamy hummus. Wish the pita was a bit warmer; it was a bit cold and dry. Hubs had the Bademjan, a sweet broth with chicken , pan fried eggplant, slow cooked in a tomato based stew, served with basmati rice and a side Shirazi Salad which had super fresh veggies and delicious citrus dressing.I had Torsh Kabob Which was tender cuts of tenderloin, marinated in a zesty sweet and sour Pomegranate sauce mixed with walnuts, charbroiled along with basmati rice and a lovely baked tomato. Generous portions, great service and ambiance on a Saturday night. Great experience and will def return when back in Greenville.

Was really looking forward to trying this restaurant out due to the reviews I had read. It was average at best. The ambience is fine, it's nicely fitted out. The service was terrible, once given menus we waited for another 25 minutes for anyone to even take our drink order (the restaurant was half empty). The food was almost what I would refer to as 'peasant food', lumps of badly cooked meat with a bunch of "mediterranean style rice" which consisted of badly cooked rice with raisins. The only good part was the starter tasting plate of dips.

I had lunch at Pomegranate on Main and was amazed at the quality of food and service. The kabob barg was made to perfection with good quality rice and baked tomato, all for the price of a burger at a restaurant down the street. Highly recommended if you enjoy good Mediterranean food, good service and excellent ambiance.

This is one of our usual restaurants when we’re in Greenville and we’ve never been disappointed. The service and the food are top notch and no matter how busy they are we never feel rushed. Tonight we shared the pomegranate, chocolate chip ice cream for dessert and it was superb, easily worth making the trip from Charlotte and dealing with all road construction delays along the way. Our server, Ben E. was attentive and pleasant without being overwhelming. Just an overall enjoyable experience.

We visited Greenville after Christmas and were so glad we chose to eat here. The food was delicious and the service was excellent. We were lucky enough to be seated near a front window and got to enjoy the carriages decked out in lights as they went by. The kabobs were wonderful, not overcooked and dry as sometimes happens. I would highly recommend the Mizra Ghasemi appetizer. We will definitely eat here again if we're back in Greenville.
