My wife and I have been self-quarantining, but it was time to start eating out again and where else but Giovanni's should we start. They are only using a few tables so we could feel safe and we did make a reservation for a specific time. That said the food and wines are fantastic as usual and after not going out for some time was better than ever. Of course, Giovanni is a master at selecting wines and he knows what we enjoy so he brought us an outstanding wine that was very reasonable. Our server Sebastian was wonderful too which made the evening even more enjoyable. My wife had the Veal and 7 mushroom sauce over pasta and I was craving their Veal Parmigiana which comes with pasta too. Ok, I almost forgot we had the most delicious Calimari to start with which is a perfect way to begin a dining experience here. Giovanni's is the number one Italian restaurant in the upstate for a reason and that is the staff lead by Mr. Giovanni, the food, wines, and the attentive service form people that want you to have a special time every time you eat here. If you enjoy a great Italian meal this is the place to be.

My wife and I love this restaurant and we were leaving on a trip for an extended time so we went over to Giovanni's for dinner. Yes, it can be a wait but once you seat down you'll be thrilled you waited since this is the best number 1 Italian restaurant in the upstate. We normally order a bottle of wine from Giovanni's fantastic wine selection but since we had to be a GSP at 6 am we only had a glass each. The best ravioli is made here fresh all the time so my wife had the lobster ravioli in a very light sauce that was excellent, I had veal parmesan made with the finest veal and cheese and a side of pasta with his fantastic meat sauce. You might not think of a local Italian restaurant for a dining experience but Giovanni's is. Try it, you'll be glad you did.

The other day we did take out from Giovanni's, and it was superb. My wife and I because of our ages have been very careful due to the pandemic. This time we ordered the linguine with shrimp and calamari in the Giovanni seafood red sauce. The portion was great, the jumbo shrimp were huge, and the calamari was cooked perfectly. My wife had the homemade crab filled ravioli in a Gorgonzola red sauce which is out of this world. We ordered extra meals for another day because the food is so good we just wanted more for later in the week. Giovanni is also noted for his wonderful wine selection, and we had him pick out a red because he knows what we like and have never been disappointed with his selections. We usually don't like to take out but the food from Giovanni's is just outstanding no matter eat-in or take-out.

After dealing with the pandemic for a year and a half we finally started to eat inside restaurants again and last night we ate at Giovanni's. Without question, Giovanni's is a wonderful dinning experience. We started with the Asparagus and Prosciutto which was cooked perfectly, so the asparagus were soft but still had a crunch and the prosciutto added another level to the starter. The bread is always wonderful, and the b utter again adds to the deliciousness. The Lobster Ravioli is homemade and full of lobster in a creamy tomato sauce that's outstanding. The Veal Parmigiana is cooked to perfection and I usually get it with pasta and meat sauce. The red wine that Mr. Giovanni picks for us always matches perfectly to our taste and dinners. What a delightful dinning experience and just a great Italian restaurant.

We hadn’t been to Giovanni’s in about four years and it was as good as ever. We arrived at 7 on a recent Thursday and the place was full, so we put our name on a waiting list and went to a nearby bar for a beer. In just under an hour they called saying our table was ready (they had predicted an hour and thus were a bit ahead of schedule). Four of us enjoyed varied dishes. My wife, son-in-law and I shared a Caprese Salad (huge, hard to imagine one person eating it all) and my daughter enjoyed the house salad. Complimentary bruschetta came as well. We had four great entrees: Gnocchi with pesto, chicken cacciatore, veal saltimbocca and a Chilean sea bass special over gnocchi. We asked for wine recommendations and were presented with a good DOC Rossi di Montalcino. The food was plentiful, so we brought a bit of each entree home for lunch the next day. Despite eating late, we didn’t feel stuffed. As always, we loved the family atmosphere, the good cooking and the reasonable prices.

We had never noticed Giovanni's when driving on Woodruff Road as it is a small front in a strip mall. We wish we had come across it sooner. While Mauldin, we were looking for an upscale dinner place with a good wine selection, and Giovanni's came up on Google. Serendipity strikes again, and we are glad. This restaurant is the most like a small town restaurant in Italy we have found. They do not take reservations, so it is first come first serve. It is small, intimate, and has more interesting food than American-Italian restaurants. There is a very good wine selection. Despite being short staffed, service was very good. We had an excellent mushroom ravioli with truffles - a higher cost for many, but well worth it. We had the mussel antipasti, and it was good. The seafood linguini with cream pepper sauce was outstanding (and included mussels, clams, and shrimp). While reasonably casual, it is very fine dining in quality of food and wine list, and we considered giving it a rare excellent rating. We will definitely return to eat as this restaurant when on Woodruff Road, and look forward to trying other dishes.

I always enjoy eating at Giovanni's. All is ideal from the atmosphere, to the service to the fine food. The owner Gabriel is friendly and enjoys assisting with the choices of food and wine. We always let him pick the wine. The calamari appetizer in red sauce is very tasty and you get plenty of bread. My son had the sea bass and said it was excellent. I had a veal dish with mushroom sauce that was also excellent. All was tasty and a good value. I highly recommend Griovanni's but be sure and make a reservation.

My teen and I decided to stop by Giovanni’s for dinner on Wednesday. The staff was friendly and very attentive. The owner walked around and talked to each table to make sure everyone was taken care of. We ordered the piccata and the Marsala meals along with some gnocchi in creamy tomato sauce. The food was incredible! The only reason I had a to go box was because I was so full. Everything that came out of the kitchen was fresh and delicious. My teen hates tomatoes, but she ended up eating several pieces of bruschetta because it was so fresh and delicious. We ended up going back Friday to order another meal to go and try their delicious cannolis. We ate the cannolis right in the parking lot because we didn’t even want to wait to get home! Our meals were worth every penny.

The food was exceptional! Bruschetta and hot bread complimentary.. The ziti with sausage and cheese was delicious, steamy, lots of sausage and cheese. The spinach tortellini with 2-3 chicken tenders and heavenly Gorgonzola sauce is a must! Service is a little abrupt but we got everything we needed/wanted.

Decided to go to Giovanni's for my 67 bday meal. We have lived in Gville for over 25+ years and know of this little Italian hole in the wall, but finally made it over. It's hiding in a small strip mall off Woodruff rd, but you wouldn't know it once you are in this little gem with maybe 10 tables. They dont take res, and are only open 5-9 pm. The menu is limited (front/back), and the owner took our order. My wife had the mush ravioli but was put off by the truffle taste, daughter had the gnocchi w/chicken & tomatoes and cleaned the plate with the fresh yummy bread provided. I had the Chicken marsala swimming in marsala sauce and left the plate spotless. Bday cake at home, but out the door for 75$ plus tip. So, if authentic Italian is calling...like eating in the kitchen with a real Italian family and abbondanza.

I lived in Italy for 6 years and have travelled the world . The veal parmigiana I had tonight is the best I have ever had. The food was just as fresh and as good as any I have had in Italy. The service and personal attention of the owner and all employees reminded me of the trattoria’s I went to in Italy. I knew this was the place to go when I saw the line of people waiting outside for it to open when I drove by. I would drive 45 minutes to eat here. It’s really great to find a place that really cares about the food they make.

We were visiting the Greenville area for our anniversary and were very glad to have picked Giovanni's for our anniversary celebration dinner. Everything about our experience was top notch. After sharing the baked asparagus wrapped in prosciutto appetizer, my wife enjoyed Giovanni's lasagna and I had one of the best dishes I've ever had in any restaurant...Gnocchi with veal in a porcini mushroom cream sauce. The service was very good from start to finish. If you decide to give Giovanni's a try, please note that it is a small establishment (only about a dozen tables) and they do not take reservations. So arrive early or be prepared to wait. Also, there's no room to wait inside but they will call you when your table is ready. If you have to wait, it will be worth it.

There are too many amazing things to mention. Try the sautéed calamari in the house red sauce. The wine is superb. The bread they give you is perfect. Tiramisu like I’ve never had before except overseas. The owner and staff are kind, constantly filing glasses, masked, gloved, and attentive. We’ve all got to keep this place in business!

All the raves are 100% accurate, hubby and I loved every bite. The very sweet owner greeted us as we sat down, told us the specials. It’s a very small restaurant, luckily we arrived early around 5:20 (we didn’t have reservations). It was packed within 20 minutes, this on a Thursday evening. We had the asparagus wrapped in prosciutto, Caesar salad, gnocchi with veal and the special truffle ravioli. Almost licked our plates , everything was so delicious. Service was excellent (a bit slow for our entrees) but perfection takes time I guess! Fabulous meal.

The good is authentic Italian, made with care, and sauces to die for. I cleaned up every bit of the tomato cream sauce from my lobster raviolis. My husband was thrilled with his seafood linguine with roasted pepper sauce. Needless to say, we will be back!
