We had not been here since before the pandemic when the food was good. Last night’s dinner was a big disappointment. We went with another couple and the 3 of us had ordered the onion soup. It was the worst onion soup we all had...ever had…it was very peppery, had no onions in it and had the consistency of split pea soup. One of our friends had the beef tartare which he said was the worst beef tartare that he has ever had…and he is a foodie! His wife and I ordered the mussels mariniere which was supposed to have white wine, garlic, shallots and herbs in it. The mussels only had herbs on them and were sitting in what tasted like just water…no white wine, garlic or shallots. Was it the chef’s night off last night? Needless to say, it was a very disappointing dinner! They have also raised their prices quite a bit since the last time we were all here and felt that the quality of the food has gone down, Unfortunately, we will not be coming back.More

Loud, crowded, obnoxious, and yuppy. Food was expensive and not remarkable. Parking is limited and handicap access not marked or readily usable. Reservations are useless (had a 30 min wait after getting there). Never again.

Random Tuesday night before a concert. I wanted Steak and French fries. My son said I know the place, and it not disappoint. I loved the cozy underground vibe. The beers are the draw, but I can’t drink beer, but the Whiskey selection was spot...on. Drinks were exactly as I ordered them. The Blue cheese oysters were absolutely spot on. I asked my server what to order, and she was exactly right. The steak was perfect. The fries were an 8 out of ten, but I’m really picky. I will go back again.More

Right on point with a high quality Belgian bistro. Environment is warm and inviting, and the kitchen turns out tasty dishes in generous portions, served hot and with fresh ingredients. Our server was very knowledgeable about the menu, and helpful with her suggestions. Beer selection...superb. Great place for a relaxed business dinner, gathering with friends or couples night out.More

We loved the ambiance! We tried a couple of their Belgian beers while we waited for a table. The bar/wait staff was very friendly and helpful. We ordered the braised spare ribs. They were good to perfection and served with mashed potatoes and a cabbage...salad. All of which were wonderful! The waitress was very knowledgeable, friendly and efficient! Overall a wonderful experience in dining!More

Awful experience- from food to wait time (although this was expected) due to the state of the service industry. We weren’t prepared to be treated poorly by our waitress. I asked for ranch dressing and she scoffed at me. We asked for a children’s menu-...as we have a friend who has limited dietary options. Pretty sure she was upset when she realized it was for an adult.. I ordered the mussels- which had zero flavor. I asked the waitress politely for melted butter and she walked off (to retrieve). Then came back five minutes later to tell us that the restaurant doesn’t offer melted butter. What the heck? One person in our party had melted garlic butter on his meat. Her lack of professionalism actually caused my friend to drop his fork as he was shocked that this was how she responded to a simple request. Just shocking. This same friend then asked for another fork (the next time she came back to our table) as he dropped his (due to her behavior) and she brushed us off never to return with a fork. Our friend had to finish his meal by eating his steak with his fingers. Poor service all around for the price. It’s unfortunate that servers treat patrons like this and know there won’t be repercussions as there is a tip worked into our bill as we were a party of six. None of us will visit this place again. Restaurant patrons— Beware.More

Always been a favorite. We haven’t been here since 2018 when we had not so great of a meal. We decided it had been way too long. Our food was pretty good -we all ordered something different and overall we’re pretty pleased but the unappetizing...part was when any of us used the restroom- the smell even outside of it smelled like they had a massive sewer backup; honestly I’ve never smelled anything like it indoors. It was awful; Greenville has so many restaurants and keeps getting more I’m not sure I would go back.More

During our wedding anniversary excursion, we had a dinner reservation at the Trappe Door made months in advance. Our seating was perfect as it was a very warm humid day and we had the a/c vent close to our table. What started as perfect ended...not so perfect. Our server (my apologies as I cannot remember her name) was exceptional the first hour with drinks, appetizer and attentive at all times with follow-up. The appetizer was a fried brussel sprouts salad, where the brussel sprouts were overcooked/burnt. My wife and I shared some of it but it extremely over cooked. We communicated this to the server and she was going to pass it along to the kitchen. It went all down hill after this. The server let us know she was getting ready to handle a large party and we gave her our entrée orders. After an hour went by with no entrées, we asked for our check, paid and departed. The server was very apologetic and understood our frustration. The Trappe Door ambience was nice, but I'm not sure if I will ever return.More

We had only been here once since the Pandemic, but were pretty regular here before. We saw a few negative reviews when making our reservation, so I am so happy to report that The Trappe Dooris as fantastic as we remembered! Or waiter Alex was...wonderful. His recommendations were spot on for food as well as drinks and the server from the kitchen was also excellent. I loved the duck breast, my sister raved about the Waterzooi, my husband was very pleased with his pork roast, and the fries were as great as we remembered. We can also highly recommend the house made Ginger beer, in a mule, or on its own. The prices for such high quality fresh food were right where I expected. I would encourage anyone who who is looking for great food, drinks, atmosphere and service to try The Trappe Door. We will be visiting again soon.More

We've had a very difficult time getting reservations for this restaurant, so when we finally did get one, we were extremely excited to go and try it out. Unfortunately, what we found was average food and service, and very high prices (you can easily drop...$125.00 a person). In short, the Trappe Door is highly overrated. The interior is very cool and the beer was good, but for the price, it's just not enough. There are too many very good restaurants in Greenville, many of them at a lower price point, so we probably won't be back.More

This relatively small restaurnat is down stairs from a main street in Greenville. The space has wooden tables and chairs, not fancy but like you would find in Europe. The menu has lots fo well known dishes. Mywife had the duck; it was oerfectly cooked....I had samll filet and frites, with black paper sauce foir themeat and mayonaise based dip for the fries. They had a variety of dips. The steak was cooked just right. The wine list is huge for the size restaurant. Good value on a Sancere. Service was prompt and efficient. We thought it was a good value for the quality. We have been to Belgium and France many times and this was just like being there again. Nolt wahite table cloth place but a real gem.More

This was a super dining experience. The Trappe Door was unique with a really neat thought-provoking menu. We had an outstanding time. Do not expect a fast food experience because it took quite a bit of time to enjoy this meal. Also be aware that...you really need to make reservations. The service was Top Notch except for one irritating issue where the server took it upon herself to divide the cost of an appetizer among our two checks for the two couples. That was unprovoked and was irritating but otherwise you could not have asked for a more perfect server. We started with two appetizers, one for each couple. We were all happy. I love mussels and to have a selection of six different sauces on Fresh mussels was premium. Then one must choose the type of flavored mayonnaise to use for the french fries dip again with a huge selection of types. The other couple had the Baked Brie and they were very very happy. All four of us chose a different entree and each of us was quite pleased. I had the Waterzooi which was a seafood entree served the top fresh vegetables. My only complaint was that most of the fresh vegetables were actually just potatoes. My two Pals that were drinkers were very excited at some of the beer selections. I would highly suggest you visit this restaurant. If nothing else check out the menu online.More

I'll get to the points. 1. Reservation system broke. Arrived early, sat 30 min after reservation time. 2.Slow service. Both bar and kitchen. 3 bartenders lacked priorities. 3.Food temp warm, not hot. Sat at window for a while. 4.If you like fries, you'll love the...frites - as long as hot, ours weren't. 5.New definition of European cuisine. Cauliflower spätzle not spätzle but diced and sautéed. Hard chunks not noodles. Belgium stew too sugar sweet. Salad was good. Beer battered cod was marginal. 6.Extensive beer and wine selection. Expensive buzz. 7.Hidden handicap entrance in alley. Need valet service for parking.More

Not that I know of but we did have a reservation for 6:30 and it was packed. There is a large bar and there may have been a couple of empty seats for a while, but I would go ahead and make a reservation.

There is a back door entrance from an alley and will accommodate a wheelchair. And if you park in handicapped on roof across the street that is fairly close to alley.
