We love to go to Japanese Steak Houses when we travel, and this was recommended by several people, with mostly high ratings. Christmas Eve, and they were closing at 8 o''clock, so we arrived just before 6:30 and were seated immediately. There was a family of 4 (all adults) seated with us, with two seats separating us. The family was friendly, laughed at my standard joke when the server asked if we wanted water ("do you know what fish DO in water?"), so we were off to a good start. The chef was from Maui, was very entertaining, told jokes and stories throughout. Now, to the best part. I had the filet and shrimp, my wife had the filet and scallops. They were perfect and delicious, along with the mountain of rice and vegetables, followed by a dish of sherbert that hit the spot. Japanese Steak Houses are generally a little pricey; this was in the normal range, and I felt comfortable leaving a 20% tip for perfect service. We will return. I rarely leave 5 stars, but this time it was truly deserved.

We go here every time we are visiting Myrtle Beach. We are never disappointed. They no longer take reservations, but they are very efficient at getting people seated with very minimal wait. An employee came out into the parking lot before they even opened and started taking names and number of people in your party. We arrived at 4:20, were in the door by 4:27 and were on our way back out at 5:40. The food is good. The portions are large -- especially the rice. The chefs are very talented and entertaining. Service is fast and efficient and friendly. They allow you to share for an upcharge of about $8, which includes soup and salad for both people sharing. It's a good deal. There's still plenty to eat even when sharing.

Due to the lack of staff that most places are experiencing, we did have to wait about a hour and 20 minutes for a table. It was worth it. We will make this one of traditional stops each year we come. The food was absolutely amazing. The portions were so big that we actually each got an extra meal out of it (yeah for leftovers). The steak was literally "melt in your mouth." The lobster and scallops were delicious. Beautiful decor. The chef and our server were also excellent.

We got there at 4:30 and a line was wrapped around the building only to be told that the early bird specials aren't offered anymore. So it started off bad. We waited for a while and our waitress took our order. The order was wrong for one of our parties they forgot 1 persons whole order so it delayed us and the chef acted frustrated. We had to wait for more prep food to be brought out. The chef seemed rushed they said they were short on chefs. The performance and interaction seemed forced and not genuine. I ordered my steak medium well and it was charcoaled on the outside like burnt. The rice portions are a fourth of the size they use to be and they don't offer the sherbert ice cream anymore which disappointed my 6 year old. We eat here every year twice a year on vacation we will not be returning and i can only hope the fayetteville nc locations hasn't gone down hill like this. Very disappointed!!

New Year's Eve we were a party of 8 we had reservations arrive early. Went to the bar and our friend 77 years of age did NOT have here ID. They refused to serve her s glass of wine. Bartender was very rude you could tell he couldn't wait for the night to be over. They said it was policy to card everyone who orders a drink .LOL Do you think they should be able to open there eyes. However they didn't have a senior menu and allowed her to order kids menu under 10 . The checks came and each couple paid there bills. Waitress didn't tell us the gratuity was already on the bill so therefor see received a double tip . Shame on you all. Show was good and food was a little salty. The place was clean . Management should review there Policy .

The food was mediocre, though tasty, but the management is severely lacking. If the wait time is quoted at 30 min be prepared to wait closer to 1.5 hours, because at any point Kirk, the general manager, may decide to seat people that were not planned/expected or waiting. When we confronted him about it, he was unapologetic and said it was the “owner’s request.” A little kindness and humility would have been appropriate. The meal was very rice heavy, minimal vegetables, and no palate cleanse (sherbet) at the end. The proteins were standard for this style restaurant, and the chef was friendly but there was nothing particularly special or entertaining about the service. We made the best of our night, but we will not be coming back in the future. There are far too many options in the Myrtle Beach area! I would rather spend my money in an establishment that offers better value and appreciates its customers. I encourage you to do the same!

So much food!! If you are traveling and do not have a place to take leftovers share an order! There were four of us and we brought back at least 5 pounds of leftover food. It will feed us at least two more meals which is wonderful because it is pricey. But it is absolutely well worth the cost. Our chef was entertaining and so fun. It was a great part of our trip.

I received a bill of $114.53 for 2 steak, shrimp, chicken dinners with gratuity of $17.20. I ate in with a shareable and order one to take home. They charged me gratuity for a meal that I ordered to carry out. That wasn't right. For the price that I paid, I received 1/4 of steak, 1/4 of a chicken breast, and 6 shrimp. It was basically all rice. People are being overcharged not to even get a whole piece of meat. Basically you're paying for rice. I don't think that this is right to charge people for a slab of rice with a little meat. The chef was really nice. John, the chef, kept us interested in his presentation. The waitress Allison was non chaulant. They need to revamp and make changes to the food amounts. It was enough rice for 3 meals but enough meat for 1. I was disappointed.

We had a 20 min wait time. The restrooms were beautifully decorated but needed cleaned. The sushi bar was closed and the main bar only had 4 customers. The main dining room was steady but not overly crowded. Able to maintain a 6 ft distance bc we sat at the end of the hibachi table. Greeted immediately for drink order and food order was taken shortly after. Soup and sweet tea were delicious. Salad was good but entirely to much dressing for my taste. Rice, veggies, and shrimp were very good as well. My sister ordered the chicken teriyaki but said the teriyaki sauce tasted burnt, but she did say the chicken was very tender. Huge dinner portions for both of us. I had the fish and shrimp and the fish was the best piece of fish I have ever had in my life. Omg delicious. The shrimp were great as well. Best part was that I have plenty of food for leftovers. Dinner for 2 was $60.00. Pros: chef ( Roy) had skills, beautifully decorated lobby and restrooms, and fish. Cons: bathroom was a wreck, the 20 minute wait time when there was not a crowd there, and I believe that's it. Overall, out of 5 stars I give it a 4.5.

My wife and I arrived at the Miyabi Steakhouse about 5:00 pm and were seated immediately. When we left around 6:30, people were waiting to get in. The service and food were excellent. Unless a large family was seated together, all diners were socially distanced. At the end of our dinner one diner at our table experienced a medical issue; unrelated to the restaurant. The staff handled the situation perfectly. I would definitely go there again.

We went to Miyak Japanese Steak House 2547 Richmond Rd Lexington KY for our grandson's 10th birthday. We were traveling and our grandson said Hibachi would be a good choice. We searched and found Miyak Japanese Steak House. What a great idea. My husband and I had never had Hibachi entrees before so this was a good experience for us. We made reservations for 7:30 pm and were seated right away. Because we were unfamiliar to how to order our wait staff walked us through. From beginning to end everything was wonderful. Great flavor and we thought a good value. Everything was fresh tasting - the salad had a good dressing on it and was so flavorful. Next the appetizers. We had California Roll and Spring Rolls. So good.....Next was our entrees: We choose the Dinner for two - it was more than 3 of us could eat and included: 5 oz Filet Mignon, 12 large shrimp, 8 oz chicken, lobster tail and rice all prepared in front of us. Our chef was fun and made it interesting and fun for our grandson. It was a very good experience. Red Bean ice Cream for dessert. To make it even more special the wait staff came out with a drum and sang happy birthday and had a Chinese candle that when opened played happy birthday. It was such a special time there. We are recommending this restaurant to everyone. The food was so tender and delicious.

I went with my family to Miyabi this week. After 20 + years of visiting Myrtle Beach and frequenting Yamato, we decided to try something different. Yamato service, quality and value has declined in recent years. We weren’t sure about Miyabi because of some reviews being negative. Some of those negative reviews were recent as well. However, we decided to take a chance anyway. We are not sushi eaters, but there was a sign on the door that said they weren’t currently offering sushi. When we were seated, I asked the server why not, and he said that on very short notice they lost their sushi chef. They are currently searching for another one, but have not had any success. We were greeted promptly upon arrival, they do not take reservations or do call ahead seating. It was a Tuesday evening when we went so we did not have to wait at all to be seated. We arrived about 5:30 p.m. The restaurant was clean, and actually most of the hibachi tables were occupied, so they were pretty busy. The server almost immediately came over and took our drink order and provided us menus. The pricing was slightly higher than we are used to, we realized afterwards that the portions, particularly the rice, is a very good amount for the price charged. We usually order the chicken hibachi and we expect to pay around $20-$21. I believe the cost at Miyabi was $26. The chef was very friendly, he greeted everyone, and was very entertaining. There were some children seated at our table, and he engaged well with them and made a great presentation. We usually order extra rice because we like leftovers. That was a bit of a mistake, because we ended up with a ton of rice or take home!. None of us could finish our food and will have at least another meal for leftover. Two other things I’d like to point out. The soup was very flavorful, and larger the normal serving. The salad larger than expected as well and the ginger dressing was mixed well throughout the salad. The chef provided us additional Yum Yum sauce when we asked. Additionally, the server brought us several sealed containers of Yum sauce to go with our leftover. They might have had other sauces available, as hibachi restaurants usually do, but they did not offer, and we do not usually use the other sauces, so we do not ask. Our expectations were questionable, however the service was very good, and the food was very good as well. I can say that our expectations were exceeded. We will definitely go back again.

We had high hopes for this place after seeing the reviews. My 4 year old is obsessed with hibachi. He likes to pretend and act as if he's doing it for us at home. So it was a special treat for our family of 4 to go to one that was highly rated. The location and building are fine, nicely decorated lobby. But our first hint that something was off was that the sushi bar was marked as closed. Looking at the menu, it was on a cheap, poorly laminated sheet, with 2 sushi selections. A "beginner" combo and another combo. No way to order just one or two, or mix and match. looking further on the menu, everything seemed to to be nickel and dimed. In fact, even if you want the waiter or someone to take a photo, they'll charge you. (never seen that before). My wife and I ordered the Shrimp and Hibachi Chicken, my kids just the chicken, and we ordered a side of noodles. We asked if fried rice was included and were told it was. The chef came out, which we were excited because the one at the other table seemed to be lively and fun. Lots of noise, lots of fire, lots of showmanship at the other table. Perhaps it was an off night for our guy though which we can understand. Not everyone is going to have a superstar day and maybe he just wanted to get through making the food. But it was a bit disappointing as our son just adores that stuff. No tricks, no jokes, no excitement, no nothing. OK, that's what it is. Food was mediocre. The "Fried" rice had no egg, and ended up dry. The veggies were just zucchini and onion, nothing else. Chicken was dry, shrimp didn't have much flavor. Food was just kind of bland. In the end it was a good amount of food, but it cost over $100 for 2 meals, 2 beers, a cocktail, and a kids meal that was shared. We have been to a lot of hibachis, and its tough to find a good combination of showmanship/entertainment and also good food. This time, we didn't have either.

This was hands-down the worst experience we’ve ever had at a Japanese steakhouse. First off, The prices are exorbitant. And when you order the chicken, you don’t even get chicken breast. It’s mixed chicken. What does that even mean? The waitress was unpleasant and hardly ever around. She brought both my wife and I the wrong salad dressing. Then on the grill when you’re not in the middle. The chef disappeared without any explanation and finally the manager came back and told us we were going to have to move. We had to pick up all of our stuff and move to another table and then wait for that grill to get ready and for the chef to reappear. By that time, the first thing that had been prepared was cold. Finally once the meal was over, we had to wait a really long time to get a bill and pay. And we were offered no apologies or discount! It was the most expensive meal we had all week and the worst experience.

I get inflation, but probably last family trip. We’ve been eating there for over 20 years, but with the loss of the early bird special, no sharing of food for kids, it’s just too expensive. My wife and I got the cheapest meals, water, and it was 70 bucks. The dinner felt rushed. Will probably look for a new Japanese restaurant for next year. It’s a shame
