We arrived at 3:50pm on 05/31/20; the parking lot was not crowded. As we approached the front door, we saw a sign advising that they were closing today at 4:00pm. One of the employees having a smoke break came over and told us we could go in, but the restaurant will definitely close at 5:00pm. My wife loves crablegs, I prefer salmon or almost any fish. We were asked to wear plstic gloves whenever we approached the buffet. The buffet line is huge. I tried the baked salmon and the teriake salmon, and really enjoyed the latter. The corn and the green beans were not very good because they tasted like they had been sitting in water all day. I also enjoyed the Fried Shrimp. The price is $37.99 per person plus $2.99 for non-alcoholic beverages (with free refills). I did not sample the salad bar or the desert bar. There was one display of sliced beef, and I tried a small sample, which was not satisfactory (best to stick with seafood in a seafood restaurant) . Our waitress was pleasant enough; her job was to remove the plates and bring over little cups of Tartar Sauce and Shrimp Sauce. The restaurant suggests a 15%, 18%, or 20% tip for this nominal service. Our tab was $96.70.

saturday evening a few of us wanted seafood. I normally go to The Original Capitan Benjamins off of Kings hwy. Well when we walked in we were greeted by the hostess she asked about how many kids we had in the party. We are seated and about to eat when we discover the price is $40 a person not including drinks and the menu is limited.

We were quickly seated, loved that they had gloves for each guest to use to get good. I love that it was made just like a regular buffer. I was pleased with all the different seafood options they had including the crab legs. I’m from Baltimore so when you do seafood it has to be impressive. Not the quality i would get a home but it was worth it. Price was around $104 for two adults and 2 children 5 and 8 with a $10 coupon. I love that we were able to see the amusement park from our seat. Our waiter was very attentive and kept replacing and checking on us.

We visited expecting fresh seafood and great service. We left happy with the quality of food and selection but once we checked our account noticed they charged our card $219 and not the $179 we signed for. We called them to see if they could correct their mistake and they pushed off blame on our bank stating some hold funds for gratuity. We left a cash tip. Called the bank and they stated they would never do that. We called Captain Benjamin’s back and let them know our bank does not do this and someone must have added in a $40 tip. They’re in the process of correcting it finally but for the price you pay to eat here the food was the same we could’ve gotten in our home state buffets. The waitress not only tipped herself an extra $40 but didn’t fill our drinks one time the whole sitting. Overall disappointing when we still tipped her over 20% cash.

The pictures on the website were nowhere to be found in the actual restaurant. This place was close to where we were staying so it got the nod over the many other possibilities. We should have researched a little more first. We weren't hungry enough to make a $40 per person buffet even close to reasonable so we ordered a couple of two person boils and one buffet for the adults and mozzarella stick meals for the kids. We were glad we didn't waste money on the buffet. The mozzarella sticks were what you would expect. The kids only ate about half of their meals and tried some of our seafood. The fries were pretty good. The highlight of the boils was probably the sausage. It was a spicy and good. The clams were good but there weren't enough of them. The crab was average. The shrimp was about as bland as I've ever tasted and it was overcooked. There was plenty of food in the two person boil for a full meal of leftover shrimp and sausage. We had a hard time understanding our waitress because she had a pretty thick accent and we had to repeat and have her repeat things several times so we could understand each other. She provided good service though.

For the amount of money spent, you should expect something remotely edible. I essentially just ate a $40 salad. The seafood was horrible. HORRIBLE. They clearly don’t care, and the waitstaff...probably banking on the big tip from the overpriced crappy food, do the absolute minimum required to do their job. Spend your money somewhere else. Even McDonalds would be preferable.

We went on a Sunday at about 6:00 pm. 2 buffets plus 2 soft drinks = $96 I was excited to try different types of seafood so we thought it would be worth it - especially since we are from the Midwest and seafood is a treat!Nope. They do have a huge variety of food. Everything from steak, chicken, pasta, salad and lots of seafood. None of the food was hot - barely warm and bland. I taste tested many things and it was all the same - lukewarm. My favorite was the salad bar. We will not be back and cannot recommend.

This place was way overpriced and the food was just not good. The staff was friendly but we paid $40 a person for food that was maybe as good as Golden Corral. Save your money and go to somewhere with actually good seafood.

I researched places to eat before arriving in Myrtle Beach and online prices for this location ranged around $27 a person for the buffet but when we arrived we were quoted $46 per person. We chose to stay and eat but several people who arrived after us got up and left when the waitress told them the cost. The prices are not actually listed on their website and I should have thought to call. There is a $5 coupon online which helped a little bit. The variety of food is extensive and most things are authentic in taste. There is a decent salad bar and also a dessert bar with a variety of so-so desserts.

This is the 4th or 5th time I’ve visited Benjamin’s, it was great as always. I and a few of my other relatives get our money’s worth since we enjoy seafood, but for my family who doesn’t eat seafood it feels like a waste. However, we had a wonderful server! The table beside of us started complaining once they found out about the automatic 18% for parties of 8, although there was a sign right as you walk in about it. They sent their sweet tea back at least 4 times and made the comment “if the waiter expects a tip he’s gonna work for it”. I don’t remember his name but he was our waiter as well, I felt awful that they were treating him this way but he was very kind and polite each time and when dealing with us it was the same.

Three of us went, two adults and 1 child, with a $5 each coupon for the adult buffets. The food was good, but not for the price. It cost us about $125 + tip. I feel like they are forcing you to pay for crab legs, even if you really don't want them. Service was good. She kept my tea filled, which can be a challenge for any waitress to do.

When we pulled up to this place we initially thought that it would be a hole in the wall kind of place. When we went inside we were pleasantly surprised at how nice place actually was which is why we stayed. I ordered a flounder dinner which consisted of 5 pieces of fish (wow) for $20 and my friend ordered shrimp dinner and we shared. It was crowded so we took it to go, with hot sauce, tartar sauce and all the trimmings. The food was delicious, we will be coming back on our next visit

Good food but not up to par with calabash shrimp just up the road in Calabash, NC. There were not enough vegetables. The salad bar was very small with not many choices. For about $40 per person, I expected a bit more vegetables or at least a great salad bar. The lettuce looked distasteful with too many brown spots. The fried shrimp was good. There was a large selection of seafood both fried & steamed. There was a large selection of desserts. It would have been nice to know that it was just a buffet before we were seated. We knew that they had a buffet but thought they also had a menu to order from. We did not eat enough for it to be a good deal.
