I feel like this is a great hibachi and only a 20 min wait at 5pm on a Sunday. They practiced social distancing between groups at the tables. The quantity of food was huge. I did a child share (for kids under 10) for $6, so she got a part of my meal, but neither of us came close to finishing what was on our plates. Our hibachi chef was good and entertaining. If you've had hibachi before, I'd say this is similar. Tasty, but nothing propriety. Enjoyable!

This is a Japanese steakhouse that cooks your food on a griddle in front of you. The prices here are lower than they were in New York 25 years ago. We always have a great time and a great meal here.

We eat here every time we come to MB. The food is always very good. We were celebrating my daughter’s college graduation this trip. I had wanted to have a special dessert made for her that lit up but the server told me that they only do that for Birthdays. We were also seated right outside of the kitchen with our backs next to the door. The curtain would fly open and the servers would shout “in!” Or “out!” So that was not very fun. We couldn’t hear each other talk because it was just too loud. The restaurant was packed. But the food is good. Just was not our best visit here this time. The server was so busy he billed me for another item that was the other couple’s at the table but he took it off when I pointed it out.

What a disappointment!!! We’ve been coming to Myrtle Beach for New Year’s and getting our New Year’s Eve dinner at Yamato’s for nearly 10 years, but this year the service was very irritating. Firstly, it took almost 40 minutes to place our order online (kept getting a syntax error, please try again later). Then, when we finally got the order placed and picked it up, the order was incomplete. We requested 2 salads instead or one soup with the Deluxe Sashimi… got 1 miso and 1 salad! Why offer a section for “Special Instructions” if no one reads them? Also, what is the point of offering the ability to order sides such as extra ginger and extra wasabi when in fact none will be provided? Furthermore, we were only provided with one set of chopsticks for an order that was clearly for 2! We know that our sashimi will be delicious; however, we hope 2021 brings better attention to details and individuals’ orders.
Also of note, there was no social distancing among patrons or staff and patrons were not wearing masks!

My wife chose this restaurant while we was visiting Broadway at the Beach on a Wednesday night. We had a 45 minute wait, but was able to walk around broadway to kill the time. When seated they brought the drinks, soup and a small salad. The chef did the normal routine with tricks with the egg, lighting onion on fire, and throwing shrimp in to the patrons mouth’s. I ordered the filet and chicken that was cooked perfectly and tasted very good. Some of the things I wasn’t a fan of, the soup and the sherbet not my favorites. The bill was a bit pricey, but guessing that the norm for a Japanese steakhouse.

We had a reservation for 6 and our sixth person was running late. We were honest and said that 5 of us were there, but we would go ahead and order for our sixth person. The manager said that their policy was that they would not seat us because they had been burned too many times with no-shows. We were standing right there in front of her and she refused to seat us after we repeatedly said we would be ordering a sixth meal. We repeated ourselves to make sure she understood and then refused to seat us and threw us out because she said we were being rude. We dine here every year for an annual trip. NEVER again! She turned away over $300 in sales and lost her waitstaff generous tips.

Visit on 02/01/20: Took family to restaurant for birthday celebration. Charged to my visa credit card.
Then on bank statement found additional $29.64 which I had not signed for. Complaint to Yamato & they stated an additional gratuity was added AFTER I had signed credit card slip.
Very disappointed with this policy, we were not made aware of, no where on receipt I have is this shown. Be aware

YAMATO at Broadway At The Beach in Myrtle Beach is a great place to go for delicious hibachi and sushi and much more in a cool and fun atmosphere. I really like the location and everything that they have available here. The staff here is very friendly and accommodating to make sure that you have everything that you need for the best meal.

We’re locals to MB and will probably never return. Our server was rude and we felt extremely rushed. The chef wasn’t even back in the kitchen before he came out with boxes. Then 1 minute later, he brought out the sherbet to the table with our checks. At this point the chef was gone for maybe 3 minutes. We were all clearly still eating and he started to take away our sauce cups. After he took those, he came back and started to take away our bar drinks, which were still half full. He then proceeded to wait by the kitchen starting at our table for us to leave. At one point, we saw him talk to the manager and after they were done talking, he came to our table and picked up the boxes that weren’t used. I’ve worked in hibachi for many years, so I understand that the more tables you have, the more money you make, but this was just unacceptable. He didn’t even t return to the table to make sure our drinks were filled or if we needed more drinks from the bar. Lucky for him he decided to add a gratuity to our checks.

We had very good service on this visit. Since it's winter the opening hours have been adjusted to 4:30pm which we didn't realize at first - typically it's 4pm.
We along with one other couple were the only ones in the restaurant for a while. Our chef did a great job preparing our meal - but the serving portions were huge! Way too much to eat - we hated leaving food but it was like double portions on our plates.
We enjoy dining at this location when wanting japanese food while in Myrtle.

We were seated 11 to a table during the middle of the highest numbers of Covid19 delta. We asked the manager to have a table with seats in between parties. We were told we could move but all tables would be seated to capacity before they were served. I tried to explain my family’s needs to be spaced but we’re ignored. The manager did not give me the chance to explain that it was important we be spaced due to a disability of one of my family members. This is a direct violation of the rights of disabled persons. More to follow on that…
Please avoid this place unless you like to sit so close you can’t eat, right handed or left.

Yamato’s really is a destination spot for us. Whether we are in Myrtle Beach for a day or a weekend... Yamato’s is always on the itinerary. The food is amazing, the service is wonderful, and the chefs are always entertaining. Great place for date night or family outing. Highly recommend.

We ordered carry out. The guy on the phone who took the order was very kind. I was say his service was the best thing about this place. First of am when you order over the phone or internet they charge you a 10% gratuity. My boyfriend had shrimp and chicken Hibachi and I had the network strip. It was awful! I love Japanese food and this food tasted like something you would get from the food court at the mall. The food had no flavor. My steak I ordered medium it it was dried out!!! My boyfriend food had too much sauce on it from his chicken. We also ordered sushi he got 6 tiny rolls for his shrimp sushi! My tools looked good but I have yet to try them I was so over the food after a few bites of the Hibachi. Good luck out there!

Nice place to go for a Hibachi dinner.
Menu had all the requisites and even some sushi and other apps.
Prices were reasonable, especially for being in a touristy location.
Our waiter Robert B was super efficient and the chef was engaging and entertaining.
All our food was well prepared, tasty and of ample size.
The service fee to use a credit card did not bother me, but the South Carolina and local jurisdiction 12% sales tax on restaurant meals seems to be excessive.

The food was good and the chef entertaining. However, we were not advised that if we used a credit card there would be a $5.39 surcharge, which, BTW, was already listed on the bill when it was given to us. (At that point they didn't know if we were paying with cash or not). I also don't appreciate any restaurant telling me I have to give an 18% gratuity because our party has 4 people.
