This was a rustic self serve buffet style restaurant. The Tomato Pie is excellent and worth the trip. Their fried chicken was moist and tasty and they had several vegetable dishes that were good. We were there on a Thursday which was Pot Luck, so I can't say how their barbecue would be on another evening. Check their schedule to... More

We entered at 1:30 p.m. for lunch after calling to make sure they had ribs. We found a buffet with lots of bbq usuals and filled up our plates. We quickly realized that the time to eat is probably around 12 as everything was a little dry and tasteless. Other restaurants in the area did not even have ribs so... More

This restaurant has been here for a long time. The seafood is fresh and inexpensive. The fried flounder is really good. If you are looking for a place where the locals eat, this is it.

Great southern cooking! If you go on a Sunday make sure to get the desserts in the second room. Fried chicken was great.

I've eaten here many times on our annual golf trip to Santee. This time was a bit different as the owner made a speech about the history of the buildings and the business. This made the experience even more complete than just enjoying the wonderful food and service. Nobody ever leaves the Lone Star hungry as there is plenty of... More

From the front it looks 3 old cabins, but once inside it's a general store with a fresh lunch buffet along the back. You can wander in up to 3 dining rooms all with different antique filled walls. Help was prompt and friendly. I will bring visiting relatives to experience with me again.

Spotted the sign for Lone Star on our way back to our hotel in Santee from the golf course. Couldn't pass up the opportunity and I am glad we didn't. First, the setting: a dirt parking lot shaded by big trees fronts what appears to be four adjoining plank, sharecropper's cabins. Push open the wooden door, step inside and step... More

We researched barbecue places close to 95 South.... And since this place had good reviews, we thought we'd give it a try.....looking for that tasty, but elusive, real "authentic" Carolina barbecue. Not worth getting off the highway for, though. Let's start with the Ambiance, which is great, if you want to be reminded of leaking roofs in community dining rooms,... More

I've had better barbecue than I got at Lone Star. I've had better ribs than I got at Lone Star. And I've had better banana pudding than I got at Lone Star. But I've rarely had a more pleasant or memorable meal than my family has had the two times we've stopped at Lone Star on our way home from... More

Anytime we are near Santee, Thursday thru Sunday, and it is close to meal time we stop at the Lone Star for some "comfort food". It all depends on the day, Thursday is Fired Chicken,Friday Shrimp and Grits, Saturday Ribs and Sunday , just Barbecued everything plus live country music. You can order from the menu but I've never seen... More
