We had the best (and most talkative) server of our entire trip here, but she made sure everything was perfect and then some. Menu prices very reasonable given the setting. Only complaint is the inside menu isn't available outside.

Reasonable food, pleasant service. Only restaurant on site at Palmer Gulch. Nice catering folks to work with for our family reunion, and decent value, price-wise, on group meals.

Had drinks in the bar one day then ate in the restaurant the following day, Staff were all friendly and helpful. Prices were reasonable and food was good. It avoided a drive into Hill City or Keystone so it was an asset to the park.

My wife and I took some guests to the Ponderosa Restaurant on the site of the KOA/Palmer Gulch Lodge. This is not a typical restaurant you may expect at a campground/lodge. It is basically a separate establishment on the premises. It also has a bar/lounge on the lower walk out level and patio. We had the baby back ribs and... More

We stayed at KOA and decided we would eat here one evening. It was about 7:45 and was not busy. I had a burger, which was decent. Fries were good. Hubby had the fried taco, which is ginormous and good according to him. Kids had chicken fried steak, which was also large and good. He did not care for the... More

We were seated promptly. The waiter was knowledgeable about the menu to help us put together a gluten free meal for our daughter. The food was good with the exception of the mashed potatoes and gravy which tasted like they were instant. The waiter kept our drinks filled and gave good information about the surrounding attractions.

We were staying at the koa on site- went here because it was so close. Place was busy, host seemed flustered when we and others entered. Service was extremely slow- at least 45 minutes to get food. They card everyone. I am 43 and certainly don't look under 30 - didnt bring id, so unable to have a beer. I... More

We ate here one night while staying at the Palmer Gulch/ Mount Rushmore KOA. The food was very good and it was NOT overpriced. I had a grilled chicken salad which was excellent. My wife had a burger which she said was excellent.

We arrived and checked in around 4pm. Apparently it was not the right time for the restaurant which was supposedly open. We announced ourselves but failed to attract any staff attention from the back. After ten minutes we decided to head across the parking lot to have hot wings, pizza, ice cream and espresso.
