A delightful dining experience

We made a reservation at the Stagecoach for our anniversary. We were greeted by the hostess and seated in a lovely intimate room. If it wasn’t raining we would have requested the beautiful outdoor dining space. Our server was pleasant and attentive, and our appetizers, salads and entrees were beautifully presented and delicious. The prices are reasonable for this type of dining experience. The Stagecoach was the perfect place to celebrate our special day.

Plan to spend the evening! A Friday night

We had the same experience as Sursum1 which is why the title of the review is the same. We had friends from out of town staying at the campground at the state park and Stagecoach seemed like a good place to go since it was so close as they had been traveling all day and were really hungry. After our drink order, a customer claiming to be a regular came over to our table and bragged on the food and this restaurant being #1 in the area. We ordered appetizers first and figured the salad to go along with our main dish would be brought out afterwards but we waited and waited and waited and waited. Finally, after asking our server to check on our food, they brought the appetizers. Some more time passed and we found out that our dinners were ready but not the soup or the salads so they brought out the dinners which weren't even hot; mostly luke warm. Not long after they sat our dinners down, they brought out the salads and soup. One of our friends had ordered the special and house favorite that night of Lasagna and he got the last one but he waited even longer on that. He sat there watching us eat for a bit. Our server was very nice but they are either short staffed in the kitchen or are taking too many reservations for the workers they have. We were told on a week night, this would not have happened. We had a reservation so it's not like we just showed up out of the blue. They knew we were coming. I won't recommend this restaurant. The food was ok but......server was excellent.

The best place to eat

In my opinion, the best restaurant in the area. Cindy is the best, so friendly and helpful. The food is deliciously made to order so it is fresh when it comes to you, so enjoy the atmosphere, your company, and the wonderful food that is prepared just for you. I've seen people come in and say that the food on the menu is to fancy, but it's not at all. Yes the food is delicious. Yes the food looks great. Never to fancy, so come in and try. Never judge until you try, you'll love this place like we do.

Why we will not be going back

How sad the service has changed from last year when we were last there. I asked to add some lettuce to my Greek salad (they only have Greek salad with veggies only) and I would pay for the added expense. I was told no they can not that (no reason why). I thought I would try the panini sandwich which had bacon on it, I asked could they make sure the bacon was well done (I don’t think it was unreasonable to ask for this). Server came back and stated that bacon was precooked in the morning and they could not re-cook it. ???? I was not pushy or angry just surprised. Others at the table had sandwiches which they complained were dry, no mayo or mustard on them. They then asked the server to bring some for their sandwiches. What was brought to them had us laughing (in disbelief). One mayo and mustard little side cup the size of a ketchup cup at fast food restaurants to be shared by all three of the sandwiches!! We decided then and there that we would be looking for a new luncheon venue in the future.

NOT GOING BACK..

We have been here several times but we wint come again. Food can be good one time and bad the next. It took them over an hour for 3 simple meals and we had to flag them down for more drinks and needed items in a not busy night. I also asked for a table in the upper area which they did not do, but after wanting to set us upstairs with a card table with plastic chairs, we said we would sit at the lower table. We paid over 17 a meal and all came very benign looking. I feel the staff was half pleasant as if they were doing you a favor even though we tried to he pleasant with the disappointing service and long food wait. I think they need training on better service, cleaner rooms and being prompt and attentive to their paying guests.

Poor customer service

We made reservations. Was seated in a lovely room by the hostess. Basically, never saw staff again. There was a small table with 3 guests in the room with us and they were services 3 times by the waitress and once by the hostess. Each time we tried to get their attention but they would turn around and walk out. My brother went to the front to ask about getting our orders taken and was ignored by the hostess. It had been close to an hour so we left. We felt our business was not wanted. This restaurant came highly recommended by several locals, but we were very disappointed. I am not sure if this was an intentional slight or just very poor customer service. Oh, the nice bus person in the main room yelled "God bless you!" as we walked out. That was the most attention we received there 😂

I have been here for lunch twice before and it was good. Decided to try it for dinner to celebrate a promotion. From the time we walked in it felt very chaotic. It took a good 15-20 min for our order to be taken. Once our oder was taken, we waited nearly 1 hr for 2 fairly simple meals. No bread, salad or anything while waited. Close to when our meals came out the cook(not the waitress) came out and asked if I ordered a salad because she didn't write it down. She also brought us someone else's bill while we were waiting for our food. The general manager was going to tables apologizing for the waitress which was very unprofessional. Our food was good but not great. Don't think we'll go back. For being a nicer restaurant in Crossville, it was more entertaining than relaxing watching the drama.

We had a reservation and were immediately seated. We ordered and then waited an hour and a half for food. They were so short staffed so I don't blame the waitress but that was too long. Then at the end of an hour the waitress came to the table to tell my husband they were out of what he ordered. He asked her what would be the quickest and he ordered it. A pasta in a mushroom sauce. Lots of mushrooms which he doesn't even like. Not her fault. We ordered the appetizer of spinach cakes in blue cheese sauce. Best thing we got but needed about 3 times as much sauce. Two of us got a sweet and sour chicken dish with mashed potatoes and Carmalized onions. Chicken was too tough to eat but the rest of the meal was delicious. Son-in-law says pasta is homemade. All entrees come with a very small salad or soup. Homemade salad dressing is just ok. Prices are very reasonable. Most entrees about $15. Out table did not order the pizza but the one next to us did and crust was soggy and not brown on bottom but it did have plenty of toppings. Don't know if I would come back.

We were a party of three. We all ordered spaghetti and a house salad. Asked the waitress for some parmesan cheese for the salad. She replied, "I'll try but "they" (motioning towards the kitchen) don't like to give it out." What!!?? She did return with three mini dishes of parmesan. Not nearly enough. The spaghetti came way undercooked. I know what "al dente" pasta is, I actually prefer al dente cooked pasta. This was not al dente, it was way undercooked. Normally one gets as much bread and butter as one wants, especially at an Italian restaurant. None came with our meals. We asked for some. Our server replied, "I'll try but I might have to charge $4 for it as a side." Huh!!?? She returned with 4 mini (the size of a 50 cent piece) pieces of bread and a very small amount of butter. Not nearly enough. We were not charged the $4. The bill came with 3 levels of suggested tips. 18%, 20% and 25%. When pigs fly!! I left 14% and that was too generous . The place itself was really nice. Now if they could only get the food and service parts down they would have a good restaurant.

55th anniversary

I'd heard good things about the Stagecoach so decided to try it for our 55th wedding anniversary. The food was excellent. The duck ala orange was moist & tender. The others had variations of pork. We were all pleased with our meals. Even though we were celebrating a special occasion, told our waiter & brought our own special champagne flutes 🥂from our wedding, no one on staff congratulated us. I think the occasion merited some kind of recognition. Perhaps the chef or owner could have stopped by our table.

Great food, disappointing everything else

We’re always happy with the food, it’s authentic and thoughtfully prepared. The problem is you really have no choice but to order carry-out because the place has no atmosphere and the service is marginal at best. The staff usually treats you more like an inconvenience than a welcome guest. The restroom is also out of order, which appears to be an ongoing issue from past reviews. Overpriced for the experience, expect to pay $20 / head if you keep it simple (spaghetti, pizza, etc...). The setting is an historic Homestead house and could be so cool; instead, there’s just no ambiance at all.

Great Food, Poor Service: 1. Upon being seated, we had to wait 10-15 minutes before even being presented with a menu. Thus the less than excellent rating. 2. The facility was uncomfortably cool on a cool day with doors wide open. 3. The waitress, after arrival at the table, was not friendly and seemed put out to have to wait on our party of 3 -- thus the less than excellent rating. 4. The upstairs restroom was very dirty. 5. The food (penne pasta, spaghetti, and the roast pork dinners) was excellent and well presented. The peanut butter pie was also excellent. 6. Prices were reasonable for the value. A return visit will occur, hopefully with a more friendly wait staff.

Will not be back, bad service, wait for food too long!

Not impressed with my service, I ordered the house pizza, omitting the green peppers and pepperoni (instead I wanted more sausage. Well after waiting over an hour, we came when they opened for lunch. My pizza came loaded with pepperoni, only a few pcs of sausage, didn't want to wait another hr, so I accepted it( picked off the pepperoni) but the waiter plopped the whole hot stone in front Of me on the table, no plate nothing, had to ask which when he came back with more food for the other guests, asked again. The other guests complained about things that they wanted omitted but came anyway, said the burger was so hard, couldn't even cut thru it. Will not be back, even a Hunts brother pizza is better than yours and way faster!

Authentic Italian flatbread sandwich with tapenade sauce and a locally sourced much room and sausage pizza served on a baking stone. Pleasant atmosphere, friendly staff and the owner was available for questions about the peach cobbler (to die for). If you aren’t in a hurry and have a couple of hours for a meal in leisure, this is your place! $$$

We were told this was a wonderful place to eat and we were not disappointed. We made reservations which is recommended. We chose the potato leek soup which was exquisite. The sauce on the main meal was both filled with flavor and very light and complemented the pork loin. The setting added to the dining experience. The waitress could have been more attentive but the food and setting made up for it I highly recommend if you want a great meal.
