The Sunspot has excellent food, drink, and service. Here one can enjoy a unique menu (but foods with which you'll be familiar and comfortable). Great apps, sandwiches & burgers, and entrees. There's also a good bar with a nice selection of craft beers, whiskey & wine. A nice patio on the Cumberland Avenue 'Strip' - in the heart of the... More

I used to love the Sunspot Restaurant, in it's old location and before the Aubrey's chain acquired it. And have kept going back since such acquisition and their location move, hoping they would get back to their old location's roots. But after dinner there a few nights ago, I'm done with the Sunspot. Full disclosure, I'm a vegetarian and they... More

We stopped gong here after they changed their menu. Gone are the favorites. Now the menu has odd dishes that are unapproachable.

You'll likely find a common them amongst longtime patrons of Sunspot: sadness. At its original location down the street, the restaurant was the vibrant heart of Cumberland avenue. It's mantra was where neckties and tie dyes unite, and this was reflected in the customers. College kids eating jerk tofu sandwiches sitting beside businessmen in suits having salads in a totally... A year ago my friends convinced me to try this place, and I was hesitant, but they were right. The menu was awesome featuring items like: cheese dip, the Sunspot Burger, black bean burger, and other creative but not extreme dishes. On our recent visit, I was so disappointed to find the menu had changed. You want sweet potato fries?... More

Maybe if we hadn't been coming for years I wouldn't know what used to be on the menu. We aren't regulars since we tend to eat there when UT is out but we liked the place. Yes my Cuban was tasty but there weren't many items on the new menu that appealed to me. Certainly not enough that it would... More

The family picked this spot to celebrate my my brother and my own birthday. We wanted to do patio but it was full And we were too hungry to care. The appetizers and food were excellent. Service was prompt and we enjoy the laid back atmosphere. I've never had chili lime mashed potatoes but they were tasty. The Cuban was... More

Very nice late night meal. Surprising given it's location on the "strip" with all kinds of fast food place (ick). Food is very fresh and lots of out of the ordinary choices. Full bar with lots of craft beers.

Sunspot has been a great part of the Knoxville dining scene for me for over a decade, but they changed their menu, and I'm not sure it's worth it for me to go back. I got a chicken dish, granted that's pretty boring, but it's pretty hard to screw up a roasted chicken, and this was pretty tasteless. Paired with... More
