Ordered a house burger. 35 minute wait, burger completely chared. Sent back. In fairness got a refund. But if you can't cook a simple burger why are you in a kitchen. Better places locally. Just avoid is my opinion.

We arranged to meet up with my sister-in-law and her husband for lunch here. It was a very chilly day so we were thrilled to be able to sit on comfy sofas by a roaring log fire. We had a lovely lunch and the staff were very friendly.

Such a lovely place for a relaxed lunch, perfect for families with dogs. The beef was beautifully cooked and came with an impressive selection of vegetables and tasty gravy. The service is attentive, the wine and beer good. Food piping hot and more than we could eat. What more could you ask for? Highly recommended.

If you like higgledy piggledy ancient pubs, then this is a must for you. A lovely, lively pub. You can park yourself in a little nook or join in the throng of the main bar area. It has a lovely amount of room but is quite dark as it is built into the side of the valley. I don't mind... More

This pub is a classic olde worlde pub in the historic town of Modbury, it is what it very old with all the charm that goes with it. Therefore do not expect the pub to be of immaculate appearance for one it would not suit! We loved it we had the most amazing Sunday lunch there and the landlord was... More

This place caught our eye as we drove through modbury and we weren't disappointed! Luckily we came on a Sunday so could park nearby and there were lots of places to sit. The landlord was very friendly and introduced us to the resident cat and the new puppies! The food was a hearty roast with all the trimmings and they... More

A visit to the Exeter Inn in Modbury is a must if you like fish and chips! We found the staff very welcoming and keen to provide a good service. I enjoyed a beautiful piece of beer battered cod with chips and mushy peas very recently. This time they were washed down by a cool pint of Doom Bar bitter... More

We stopped on a lovely sunny day for lunch in the garden. The food was average, you could not complain or enthuse but did the job, a nice selection of heres and ciders The garden aspect is lovely ,but a mixture of decent outdoor furniture and old or broken lying about or piled up in a corner spoil the potential.... We were originally heading for the highly reviewed White Hart across the road. It was shut. And it was pouring with rain. The Exeter In took us in, fed us simple pub food done really well and dampened our insides with excellent local ale. Good friendly, efficient service topped it all off and the bill was amazingly little. All in... More

The Exeter Inn serves good quality reasonably priced food. It is a delightful 14th century coaching inn. All the staff were friendly and so were the Modbury locals who warned my husband about the low ceilings saving him from a bump on the head as we walked into the pub.
