We stayed in one of the holiday cottages. The overall standard of accommodation is tired and basic, we could have coped with that but the cleanliness was poor. The reaction of the owner to any problems we pointed out was to deny that there was a problem, tell us it was our fault, and to be very confrontational. This came... More

It was a really lovely day about three weeks ago that we arrived at a near deserted Exeter Inn in this lovely part of North Devon. We sat in the sunshine with a drink while we waited for our lunch. We ordered sirloin steak and all the trimmings. It did not disappoint. The food was lovely but we were sitting in... More

12 friends in high spirits descended on a pre-booked Exeter Inn and had a great evening. The landlord didn't mind us rearranging the tables to suit our party, we all enjoyed the food with good sized portions and friendly staff who weren't phased by us!

We arrived here looking forward to a Sunday lunch (roast dinner) only to find that they have stopped doing them. We were a party of six who couldn't face trying to find somewhere else, so we ordered from the everyday menu. A whole load of things on their menu were not actually available but we managed to find things we... More

Quiet and run down. A place in need of tlc. I was expecting a lively good quality experience from previous reviews. However on a Weds night in peak season there were a handful of customers and customer service was distinctly lacking. Food was ok but took 40 mins to arrive in spite of no other customers. Sorry to say that... More

We came across this pub whilst exploring the North Devon countryside. It's thatched in a quaint village. We decided to stop for a drink. The pub is lovely inside and out. The blackboard menu looked very inviting and it was very busy. They had real real ales, my wife enjoyed her glass of wine and the prices were very reasonable.

A very comfortable restaurant, well decorated and welcoming. The food was excellent and all 4 meals of a high quality. Very attentive service and responsive. The only area I would suggest could be improved was the cutlery,- the 'tools for 2 of us were fine but the others were a bit scratchy and should be swapped. A minor point but... More

For a village pub this is pricey. I ordered the Dressed Crab Salad. It was dry & served on packet lettuce, no dressing. Found a piece of nibbled cucumber in the salad so told the polite waiter & said I wasn't happy. My wife ordered fish pie which, after 30 minutes, we were told was off the menu. So she... More

Spent a really lovely evening with co workers sharing a meal. The menu was huge, and I suspect why some people had amazing food and some not so great, it would be impossible to cook that extensive menu from scratch. I had streak nod it was utterly delicious, someone had lasagne and it lacked flavour and watery. However, the chef... More

We walked to the inn from nearby Highbullen Hotel. Had a great lunch in nice surroundings which was nicely, good portion sizes and a very friendly landlord. We went back for a quiet pint a couple of days later and again, nice people and a very pleasant experience
