We always make a point of eating at this place when we holiday in Dorset as the location is perfect to Corfe where we stay. The staff are polite and friendly and always make you feel welcome. I cannot knock the food it amazing.

I called in with friends on a cold dark evening on the off chance of getting a meal. A very warm welcome awaited us inside & the place was buzzing. We were offered two tables in different rooms & chose one where there was a nice fire. There was a good choice of dishes on the menu & the food... More

This is a family friendly inn offering a wide range of meals. The staff were very friendly and service was prompt. The burgers and fish and chips were cooked well and the portions were generous.

Had the Sunday roast of which 3 meats were on offer and it was just like a home cooked roast, vegetables were cooked just right, great roast potatoes and the beef which I had, was delicious. Would thoroughly recommend.

After passing the pub several times on our way to Poole and thinking how beautiful it looked we decided to try it for Sunday lunch and were not disappointed. A very varied and interesting menu with some lovely vegetarian options, definitely not just pub grub. We were made to feel very welcome even with a noisy toddler - a bonus... More

My mother-in-law and I ate here after a walk in Studland, with our puppy. Although they were fully booked they managed to squeeze us in and the service was absolutely fantastic. They not only made us feel welcome from the get go, they really were a "dog friendly" pub - every single member of staff asked us if our dog... More

On the search for a Roast after a mammoth cliff walk , utterly exhausted ,we stopped at the Halfway. Lovely atmosphere when we walked in, lighting was cosy and candles on the table we felt hugged by the place when we walked in . Staff were chatty and happy - it was infectious. I had the nut roast - it... More

Half way inn, more like Half house. Actually that's unfair, I think a cook at a half way house would know the difference between rare and incinerated. Not only did this happen after politely telling the waitress that our request for a rare steak had turned out to be 'cooked to oblivion' when she agreed to make us a new... More

We are rather confused by this review as we have no recollection of receiving any complaints about how steaks have been cooked in the past week. We have checked with all our waitresses and they are also unaware of any issues. We always try to cook steak to the customers requirements, and will check back on tables dining inside to... More

We visited this pub on spec whilst on holiday, very old and characteristic pub with great home made food. The service was quick which is always good when you have hungry children with you. The staff where very accommodating and friendly. Would recommend and dine here again

We set out on a walk from Wareham, along the Purbeck Way path next to the rivers edge, found a disused tramway, which took us in the direction of The Halfway Inn. Seemed too good to walk on by, so we stopped for a few refreshing pints of real ale, and as we were undecided what to eat, whether to... More
