We are just back from a really relaxing and great 4 night stay at Oranmore Guest house. On arrival we had a friendly socially distanced welcome from Gerard the proprietor, who showed us to our room - the Sheridan Suite, in the tastefully restored stables, separate from the main house. Gerard and his wife Fiona are very attentive, friendly, polite and professional hosts and had stocked tv our lovely room with home baking and home made jam. Also provided was bottled water, fresh fruit, cheese, breads, cereals, yoghurt and tea and coffee. We also had a fabulous cooked breakfast - best we’ve had in a long time! The room was spacious and spotlessly clean with a lovely en-suite bathroom and nice sitting area to relax and watch tv. The kitchen area had a kettle, toaster, microwave, sink and fridge. During our stay Gerard and Fiona took time to show us around the beautiful manicured grounds, where they grow their own fruit and veg for the restaurant. Whilst there I was lucky enough to get an invitation to play the local golf course however I didn’t have my clubs with me. When Gerard heard this, he even let me borrow his own clubs and trolley for the day! It’s been a while since we had such a friendly welcoming stay anywhere. Many thanks Gerard, Fiona and family!!

Went for lunch is Saturday. Offers an excellent selection, with a great gluten free section on the menu. The smoked salmon was excellent, and the prawn salad got great reports also. Deserts were great. The food was well priced, with great taste. Staff could not be faulted, so polite and friendly. The propert itself is amazing, only 5 minutes from town, but yet feels like a country house. I’ll definitely be back.

First visit to Oranmore for the four of us, and we most definitely will be back. This family run business has it all, the afternoon tea was amazing, delicious from start to finish, must mention the scrummy homemade pork and apple sausage rolls 😋 One of our friends is gluten free and was delighted with the selection offered to him. The staff were very welcoming, even when we had a walk around, the young man keeping the outside clean had time to make us feel welcome, we caught the cook getting some fresh air outside she too had time for a chat. Very pleasant visit, this place is a hidden gem.

After hearing many positive reviews, we thought we would sample Oranmore. On arrival, lovely setting and very clean premises. My husband had the chicken curry which was presented beautifully and I had a sandwich with soup. The Chicken Curry was watery and did not have seasoning as for the sandwich, unfortunately there was a hair within however was still enjoyable as was the soup so felt no need to complain. We both had desserts, as everything is published as home made, the sticky toffee is most definitely shop bought as is the ice cream. Although, I had the cheesecake and it was lovely as it was evidently home made. Overall, the food was average and drinks very over priced e.g. £7.95 for a glass of wine or slightly more for Prosecco.

Having visited before and left a good review, was pleased to receive a gift of a voucher for two afternoon teas. Wanting to try the evening meal I called to see if we could offset the cost of the voucher against two three course meals and was told NO, we could only exchange it for the tea option!!! We would be paying a lot more for the meal, we weren't asking for a straight exchange but the receptionist wouldn't accommodate us. I emailed them to ask for a valid reason, as all money would be going in to the Oranmore coffers after all, but they hadn't even the courtesy to reply. Maybe a customer care course for all involved might be a good idea.

My daughter in France booked 2 meals and bottle of wine for Mothers Day for me and my Wife. Meal was to be collected at 5 oclock. I arrived on site at 4:55pm. I received my meal at 6:20pm having to wait 1Hr and 20Minutes. To really rub salt into wounds 4 cars arrived after me between 5:15 and 5:30 pm and all received their meals before mine.I tried to ask what was the problem with my meal but just got fobbed off with excuses. Absolutely terrible experience and would never order a meal from Oranmore again. Would have given 0 marks if it was possible.

Having been to Oranmore a number of times, always finding them helpful and pleasant, I went with 2 friends for a lunch that was supposed to be a bit special. I ordered a gluten free toasted sandwich and when it arrived there were 2 small triangular sandwiches on a plate, about half a round of sandwiches in total, along with two halves of a cherry tomato and a few small mixed lettuce leaves, a garnish rather than a side salad. My friend, who is not gluten free, had about 4 times this amount. They still charged the full £8 for this meagre offering! I emailed to say I was disappointed rather than complain on the day as I didn't want to ruin the afternoon for the others. I received a standard 'we'll pass this along to our servers for future reference' style reply. I would have been better off in the local dog cafe, which is my usual Saturday lunch, where my meal would have been the same size and standard as the rest of the party. We will know for the future. I expected more from Oranmore, both in the meal and the response.

Attended today for a family afternoon tea, had various afternoon tea hampers during lockdown but was unable to spend our gift vouchers so we have been very much looking forward to returning. Extremely disappointed that the business are no longer accepting vouchers that customers were unable to spend due to covid lockdowns. Owner explained they were a business and nothing he could do to accommodate vouchers that have now expired. Was planning return for Xmas lunch but owner was happy that we wouldn’t return as he couldn’t accept vouchers which they had already taken the payment for. Owner gave no apology and was in no way empathic. Other local businesses are much more accommodating and flexible with gift vouchers given the circumstances. Posting this as warning to other customers. Thoroughly disappointing as have been loyal customers over the years such a pity that we will note return.

Afternoon tea. Was very underwhelmed by the afternoon tea for 30 pounds and especially the childrens sausage and chips, consisting of two deep fried sausages, decent enough chips and a small ice cream for 14.50 each. The room is pleasant, the table setting very pleasant too and the staff whilst young provided good service. However if you charge 30 for an afternoon tea then expect to be benchmarked accordingly. Wolsley in London is 39.50 e.g. Generally everything about the food was not what one expects at this price point starting with range of 3 teas from a tea bag. 3 small sandwiches home made style. Scone was fine but very small. And worst of all traybakes in a 30 pounds afternoon tea and a muffin / cupcake one. Need I say any more.

We had booked all rooms in Oranmore Guest House for our immediate family and bridal party, for the night after our wedding. HOWEVER, months after booking plus giving my card details and a deposit to 'confirm' our rooms, we were told 'two of your rooms are gone', as they had wrongly been advertised on booking.com. We implored them to cancel these rooms as they were ours! But to no avail. We were then told 'actually all your rooms are fine...' so they had suddenly magically made two new rooms appear. We left it as this and were told 'all your guests are welcome to stay here'. Again, weeks later, we were told two more of our rooms had been given away, to people who were staying longer and therefore 'better for their business'. I have never been spoken to so aggressively and disgustingly in my life, with the manager shouting down the phone 'you need to work with me here', 'listen to me', 'we've had so many wedding cancellations in the past' - how were those past cancellations anything to do with my booking?! We had fully intended to keep it. My now husband rang the manager back to calm the situation as by this point we thought we had nowhere else to go, so wanted to try and keep our booking and use two rooms elsewhere, that the manager 'had booked for us on the wedding date'. We rang said hotel - they had been told the wrong date, a whole month before our wedding. The manager yelled down the phone at my husband in a totally threatening tone, when all my husband had asked for was an apology to me, plus a good stay after all this stress. Apparently this manager 'apologises to no-one'. How on earth this is called a 'guest' house is beyond me, as we were treated SO horrifically as paying customers. Not once did we get an apology. I was so appalled at the way my husband was spoken to, I rang another staff member, explained the situation and demanded our money back. I wasn't going to have my wedding ruined so we stayed elsewhere in Ballymena which was perfect for us. The manager here is a complete bully and I seriously advise NOT to stay here, especially if you are a wedding party, as your planning will be completely ruined!

We had pre ordered our meals, which were delicious, and served by wonderful members of staff, who were very attentive yet discreet. We have visited the restaurant in the past, and it never fails to deliver. I would highly recommend Oranmore for both lunchtime and evening dining.

I could not have picked a better place to stay in Ballymena. I stayed for just two nights and I will return here again when visiting Ballymena again. The breakfast which was included was without doubt the full breakfast I have had tasted, and I have had many. Sausages were so tasty, bacon cooked perfectly, the black and white pudding were perfection , also two pieces of potato bread . The star of the show was the egg which were sourced from their own chickens and you can see them in their compound in the beautiful grounds of the Oranmore. Talk about provenance. Not a touch of grease in the breakfast. My room in Hunters Lodge has a wonderfully comfortable and was spacious and airy and very quiet. Next to the room are comfortable sofas and a large TV plus the added bonus of a microwave and fridge so you can cook your own food if you wish. I left early today so I had to miss that fabulous breakfast but my host kindly provided me with juice, fruit, yoghurt, cereals and bread for toasting. How is that for service. A big thanks to my hosts and hope to see you again.

Have had takeaway afternoon tea from here four times now. Consistently excellent. Presentation and packaging is beautiful, it comes in a hamper you get to keep and is decorated according to theme e.g. candy canes at christmas, birthday confetti etc The food is fresh and absolutely gorgeous. Soup, sandwiches, scones, best sausage rolls i've ever tasted and of course all the weet treats. My favourite afternoon tea from anywhere i've been.

Recently my family and I were lucky enough to sample the takeaway afternoon tea hamper from Oranmore and it was a continuation of surprises and treats. It was just as amazing as what you would have in house but with the fun of a hamper and being able to enjoy it from home. There was clearly so much thought and effort put in and it was a never ending supply of treats and surprises. I would highly recommend this and it is definitely worth every penny!!! Every bite was yummy and the hamper ended up being totally cleared. I would recommend to anyone for any occasion. High quality and class with every bite. Well done Oranmore

I stayed at Oranmore for an overnight stay whilst playing golf at Galgorm Castle which is very nearby. I cannot recommend this establishment highly enough. The staff and owners are so friendly and couldn't do enough for me. The room I was given was more like a suite with beautiful ornate furniture and a beautiful big bathroom. Very comfortable and extremely clean and hygienic. The breakfast the following morning was second to none. I know that Oranmore also offer lunches, teas and dinner as I've also heard rave reviews about their food. If you need a great place to stay in Ballymena, I totally recommend Oranmore. It's more a boutique hotel than a B&B. 5 stars!
