Ate here on a Friday night during a recent trip to Arran as it had been recommended. The restaurant area is a bit odd. Sparse tables around a large room with the kitchen out the back, but in hindsight, it made for a more personal dining experience as tables aren't put crammed closely together. Service was friendly and although staff... More

Never actually stayed here or had any food so can't comment on that side. What I did have was a good few drinks and had a great time. The bar looks great and is bright with nice decor. Drinks moderately priced with a wide range available. Staff nice and pleasant and well presented. Next time I will have food and... More

The decor and grandeur of the building was modern and warm. The staff were extremely helpful and professional. The only thing that brings it down for me is the cost. It just felt like a super expensive and well decorated weather spoons. I would only go once a trip.

We were staying at the hotel anyway and popped into the bar area for a drink. We had already booked to go for dinner elsewhere but decided to share a sandwich at around 5pm. The bar area was lovely. It was cosy with lovely cushions and really homely touches. We ordered the turkey, bacon and cheese sandwich. It was really good,... More

My father and I had dinner in the Bistro while staying a few nights at The Douglas Hotel. We also had breakfast there two mornings. Overall the food was good, but not spectacular, the atmosphere was warm and inviting, and the staff were incredibly friendly and attentive. I'm quite keen on having a "full Scottish breakfast", and theirs is quite... More

I chose a main and a dessert from the specials and both were very good. The sword fish came with broccoli , tomatoes and potatoes all hot and well presented. The passion fruit creme brulee with crispy cranberry biscuits was exceptional. Food going to other tables looked good too and everyone seemed happy. Service was attentive and friendly. Price for... We're the best we had all trip, the wine however was really bad, £26 for sauvingon which I was quite happy to pay thinking it would taste as good as £6 or £7 bottles we could buy at the coop, not even close, has any of the staff tasted this stuff, we weren't expecting exquisite, just palatable, order Italian pino,... We had a double room at the back of the hotel so there was not a great outlook. However, the room was spacious and comfortable. High standard of cleanliness and very comfortable bed. Breakfast was very good with large selection of food. Staff friendly and efficient.

We ate at the Bistro whilst staying at the hotel and were given a lovely table by the window. All food was delicious and beautifully presented. Many of the ingredients were locally sourced. All the restaurant staff were friendly and efficient.
