Steak pie and caramel apple pie were both quite good. The service was quick and pleasant. Beer was cold and there was a good variety of choices

We stayed in Fort Augustus for a weeks holiday and visited The Bothy nearly every night. It's quite small and can be a little difficult to get a table but we mainly went for just drinks. The staff were very pleasant, there's a good range...More

The Bothy has a great location overlooking the Fort Augustus lochs and has a number of outdoor tables with a great view of the action on the lochs. The indoor restaurant is in a sunny conservatory at the back. Staff are friendly but our meal...More

This place serves average food the staff are inattentive and then hey can't really be bothered. There are a limited number of places to eat in the village and this place occupies a prominent one so doesn't have to try. Currently I have been sitting...More

There are 5 or 6 good outdoor tables right by the lock side, with a clear notice saying that they are only for the use of The Bothy customers. So some of our party sat there and then I went in to order. I was...More

Dog friendly pub with nice real ale. Dogs allowed in bar area or if nice at the canal side. Barman gave our Monty doggie treats so it's a winner as far as he is concerned 🐶🐶🐶🐶

I have been there for dinner while visiting Loch ness as it was the closest restaurant to where the lake cruise tour starts. First of all the staff was so unfriendly and so in a hurry, they kept coming every minute rushing to place the...More

My prawn cocktail could have done with some prawns to go with it. Moving on, I had hopes for the "Smokey Chicken". Rated as probably their most popular dish, I'd say it should probably be taken off the menu. I can overlook vegetables being cooked...More

Fast & friendly service and you need to get there early. Generous servings of good pub-style food, but best to stick to the classics such as the fish or the beef pie. My (gloopy) vegetable lasagne was a mistake!
