Remarkable kitchen at inflated price. A gifted enthusiastic chef puts all his energy hunting the trophy. Enjoy, if you like dining at the cutting edge.

We came here for our anniversary meal whilst on holiday nearby. The wind and rain were swirling round outside but we were very cosy inside this fabulous hotel. The food, setting and service were all wonderful.
Located literally in the middle of nowhere, the 1887 restaurant is an unusual dining experience, that while not quite up to michelin star level, serves fine meals in an old world, old money, country house setting. Generally, the standard of cooking was very good. We...More
Thanks for the review. Our regular menu is 4 course including the amuse and is priced at £60.00. Some customers are looking for a slightly less expensive menu and we accordingly charge £50.00 for 3 courses. Tea & coffee is included in the price. We...More
First the good points. The food was very good, if pricey, and the lounge was very comfortable and welcoming (the building and location generally are very attractive). Now the not so good. Despite the food being good the menu was uninspiring. They boast of the...More

This was a birthday treat for me and my wife and friends had researched options in the area. It did not disappoint in terms of service and cuisine. A beautiful setting, top class staff service and excellent menu choices.
So pleased you enjoyed your birthday celebration. Regards, Dan
Very high standard of food and service, a lovely room. Compared very favourably against all of the other hotels we visited in Scotland on our NC500 trip. Would highly recommend. PS Whiskey bar a must try!!
So pleased you enjoyed us and the NC500. Regards, Dan
