After a previous night food disaster we were treated to a very tasty, well prepared and amazing meal at Red Skye. Very quaint, old schoolhouse conversion gave a relaxed atmosphere and although, like many restaurants on Skye regarding availability of staff, the three amigos (Owner,...chef and waiter) were superb! Wild creamy chantelle mushrooms with rocket on toasted focacia, haggis bonbons in a mustard n whisky cream sauce, the most amazing fresh mussels in creamy white wine sauce and a small portion of seared scallops on black pudding with parsnip puree.. ...fantastic!!!More

Superb view, great service, thoroughly enjoyed it and I would highly recommend this place. It was fully booked and I’m hardly surprised

We were ‘lucky’ enough to book a table with less than 24 hours notice (general note: book a restaurant if your visiting the Isle of Skye, staff shortages are generally causing a nightmare everywhere as the hospitality industry is struggling so much). We were a...first sitting at 5.30 which was fine. The restaurant was clean, tidy and following Covid guidelines. We ordered starters (soup and chowder) which were ok. The haddock in the chowder was chewy, potatoes slightly undercooked and the cream sauce a little thin. The soup was nice. For mains we had salmon and muscles. My husband said the salmon was cooked well but the sauce (chorizo and sundried tomatoes) made the dish oily. The muscles hadn’t been cleaned and the barnacles left grit in the sauce so it couldn’t be eaten. I was surprised that I had to ask for a finger bowl but more surprised when I mentioned about the lack of cleaning on the muscles I was told about a ‘high-end’ restaurant nearby that do painstakingly clean them so that there is no grit! I was really looking forward to eating locally caught fish on the Isle of Skye and perhaps my expectations were unreasonable considering the current climate. I’ve had better fish in Leeds (West Yorkshire)… nowhere near the sea! In hindsight, I should have had a burger!More

The menu was a bit limited, especially for those who are not fans of seafood. Also worth noting is that the menu we were given is not the same as linked on this website, so it hasn't been kept up to date on this website....Overall, a bit underwhelming. The sticky toffee pudding was really nice though.More

Don't judge this great restaurant on some of the picky reviews on here... I think some people forget the times we are living in and the challenges post covid and brexit. Times are not as they were and this is a wonderful local restaurant doing...good food really well! I think a couple of people think the Red Skye is The Loch Bay ( which by the way is outstanding ).... The Red Skye is a lovely restaurant not to be missed! We arrived in Skye and booked Red Skye and the staff were nothing but caring, helpful and friendly.... YES, they are menu planning, yes they are ordering produceto cook dishes they can get plenty of stock for BUT they are like many working during times of staff shortages and challenging food supplies and doing a stellar job giving people a great night out and a wonderful meal! Dont hesitate to book .... the scallops were wonderful and the main courses sensational - no matter what you have! The Sticky toffee pudding was sublime and watching the two ladies working the full restaurant with a smile and attentive service was just great! There was one chef in the kitchen last night apparently and she and all the staff are doing good stuff! We for one will be going back as the food was great, the wine plenty and the service perfect.... Well Done Red Skye!!!More

Booking is highly recommended, we arrived without a booking at 5.30 and by 6.30 they were only accepting those who had booked. The menu on line is not the current menu and for our main course we finished up choosing a burger with chips, there...was no steak and the only fish was salmon. Those choice of burger is wide ranging and you select the ingredients from a wide choice. They were well presented and indeed the best burgers we have eaten, but we really didn’t go out for a burger, especially at £12.50 eachMore

Nice and intimate with good parking. Lovely choice of malt whisky and local gin. I enjoyed the scallos and the panna cotta dessert.

Advice for anyone who books a table after looking at the menu on line....totally ignore it...if you dont want fish or a burger stay away. Average service..average food.If you want a chicken burger go to McDonalds. When I asked about the menu thats available to view...on line I was told it was over two years old...So if this is true why advertise the menu on line it. We were very disappointedMore

Booked a meal here whilst travelling the NC500 and reading the reviews...couldn’t fault, the food and service was first class...the Squat Lobsters were delicious although a messy indulgence. Bravo!
