We pre-booked a table in this restaurant several weeks before visiting in early September, having seen that under Covid there was limited availability and we were glad we had done so. We were given a table with a view across the harbour which was a lovely outlook. The menu was fairly short. I opted for the seafood soup starter which turned out to taste strongly of smoked fish which was unexpected so beware, although tasty. I loved my big juicy scallops on mushroom risotto for main, and my husband had a good plateful of seafood for his main of seafood platter. See photos. The sticky toffee pudding was wonderful. A very good option for a meal in Portree.

Heard very positive reviews and it lived up to the hype. Very reasonably priced as well. My wife had the fish cakes to start which were lovely and my chowder was beautiful! We had the sea food platter for two, priced at £56 was great value for money. Six generous helpings of lobster, two big salmon fillets, potatoes, salad and about 4000 mussels. The waitresses were lovely and the service was fantastic

After reading recent reviews I wasn’t sure what to expect. However I need not have been concerned as the meal was delicious and the staff were very friendly. I had the platter for one and it was a very generous portion and delicious as well as being great value. The bread was super tasty as well and I really had to make sure that I didn’t fill up on it. In hindsight I was very glad that I didn’t. Definitely worth a visit.

I made a reservation by phone for 2 people for 7pm. The reservation was made 2 weeks before the date of the meal. As this was our first meal on Skye we arrived in plenty of time and had a walk around the harbour. We arrived at the restraunt at 18.50 and was told we did have a reservation but it was at 18.30 and there are no other tables available. This was clearly incorrect as I booked 5 meals on Skye and everyone of them was specifically booked for 7pm. The waitress did admit that the seating plan was changed several times and there was a possibility that not everyone with a reservation was contacted. The booking system is clearly not good enough we enjoyed our stay in Skye but did not enjoy our experience at this restaurant and will not be returning.

I'm staying about 10 miles from Portree and knowing that following lockdown it was best to book a table well in advance. I booked a table around 10 nights ago for tonight. They said they were busy but could fit me in at 5pm. On arrival I was really annoyed that they couldn't find my booking. The waitress did try to help and offered me a sister restaurant at 7pm, this was inconvenient as I had driven into Portree to have my meal at 5pm and having the car meant I couldn't really go for a pint etc to kill the time. What was really bad was the chefs intervention and him saying really unhelpful things like "it's not my problem", and "I don't believe you booked". I showed the staff the phone log showing there number 10 days ago, the response was that's not proof you booked and again I don't believe you! I was asked to leave twice! It's a pity, as this experience has got my time in Skye off to a terrible start. The restaurant looked really good but I would never return after the chefs terrible attitude!

We booked well in advance because of great reviews. Choices were quite limited but we were offered two “specials”. One was Manhattan Chowder starter described as tomato based chowder with mussels and fish. It was disappointing. Appeared nothing more than canned tomatoes, some seasoning, lots of potatoes and celery 3mussels in shells and very very little fish. Because it was a special, no price was quoted but we were shocked to be charged £9 per bowl. It was a pity because my main course was scallops which were beautifully cooked and served with a lovely tasty risotto. When we commented to waitress about the price of the tomato “chowder” she said sorry but did not offer to take one off the bill or any token of goodwill. Pity because a lot of the meal was lovely but we left feeling we had been cheated. Beware ordering a special without first asking the price! You won’t be told if you don’t ask.

We'd heard great things about this restaurant and were really excited to visit. When we arrived the staff were friendly and prompt to serve us. To start we had a tomato seafood chowder and the fishcakes, both of which were very tasty. All good so far. The mains weren't quite as good as we'd expected for the price (they are quite pricey). The scollops served on a risotto were quite nice but the truffle oil overpowered the scollops somewhat. The mussels were a bit of a let down. The produce is excellent I'm sure, but it was served in a very unappetising, bland sauce which I'm sorry to say resembled dishwater. We got given bread with them, but dipping it into water didn't really appeal to us. To sum up - nice staff, lovely starters, disappointing and overpriced mains.

The restaurant is in a brilliant location on Portree Harbour, with a cosy atmosphere and good vibes all round. The food was really good - we had a lovely goats cheese starter and beautiful monkfish and salmon fillet mains. Our ‘seasoned vegetables’ side dish was lacking in any seasoning but other than that the food was tasty. Our waiter Tim and his counterpart Gemma were on great form and obviously rushed off their feet, but did very well considering how busy they were. Our main point of contention was the management’s decision to remove the ability of tipping via card payments. We were reliably informed that the waiting staff weren’t allowed to add tips to card payments, which could subsequently be taken from the cash register. You would hope with the growing use of card payments and COVID regulations recommending contactless payments, the management would allow for the easy tipping of their hard-working waiting staff! Other than that a great night all round.

I opted for the seafood platter for one - £31. The ingredients depended on what was available which is always a good sign in a seafood restaurant. It was warm, softly lit and welcoming with friendly staff. Covid distancing was in place along with hand sanitizer but this did not detract from the ambience. There was a very good beer menu so I opted for the Eagle which was a good choice being flavoursome but light. The platter arrived which was a feast of plump succulent mussels, beautifully fresh salmon and fresh tender scallops. Warm new potatoes accompanied the dish which I smothered in butter. I wish I had come here both the nights I was in Portree but was not surprised to find that it was solidly booked.

We rounded off a fabulous day on the Isle of Skye here. Adults had the surf and turf, kids both had the scampi (they do half portions of the main menu for children). All 4 of us absolutely loved our meals, and the pudding was wonderful too. It seems that pre booking especially in peak season is a must, as the restaurant is not big, but it’s well worth it. Our waitress was so friendly and attentive too. Would definitely go back here if on the Isle of Skye again

No complaints about the service but sadly very disappointed by the menu and price. The online menu is much more extensive than what is on offer. We had a choice of 3 mains and both went for the salmon and noodles. The salmon was a good size but considering it came with noodles only £19 was extremely expensive. I understand that venues are just beginning to open but the rationale around the limited menu was very disappointing and not value for money.

Visited the restaurant tonight, staff were great and the food is excellent. The langoustines as part of the seafood platter were probably the best I’ve ever had. No fuss, let’s the food talk. The chowder was really tasty. Main downside is that you can’t hang about. You have a relatively short slot so we had a starter then had to sprint to finish the seafood platter. No time for desert which is disappointing as would love to have carried on. The wine selection is also pretty limited and our bottle was one of the more expensive ones and was okay. A better selection to elevate it to the standard of food and a bit of extra time would lift the rating.

Really nice seafood platter! But I don't understand how can Sea Breezes be rated below Cuchillin, its sister restaurant located just some meters away. Both serve great food at the same price, but the former is a copy and paste of the latter with some downgrades. In Sea Breezes, our seafood platter had considerably less potatoes, the tap water was served without ice, only one bowl for the emoty shells and service is not as kind. Generally very good food, but Cuchullin is the better of the two.

Visited with 2 kids on a Thursday night and whilst no kids menu, very happy to split a mains and adapt for them. Food is fresh delicious fish and seafood as you would expect from somewhere right on the harbour. Scallops were some of the biggest & best I’d ever had! Seafood platter is advertised but presumably based on what is available. It was langoustines, mussels and salmon - we would have preferred more shellfish so did not order but were certainly disappointed with our mains - scallop risotto & surf and turf .

We ordered the feast for two and it was indeed a feast. But we were disappointed that they were out of langoustines. They subbed with scallops, which were quite good. The mussels were mostly good and very plenteous. We perhaps would have preferred fewer mussels and more of something else (like langoustines, maybe?), but we managed. Some of the mussels were a little chewy and a couple had a bit of grit, so that was disappointing when we were paying so much. The salmon also melted in your mouth - it was cooked and seasoned very well. All in all, it was tasty and certainly enough. But it was quite expensive and it wasn't the best seafood we had in Skye. They do take reservations, but you have to reserve weeks in advance to get a decent time. We reserved the day we got to Portree for our last night there and still got one of the last seatings of the day.
