We’d heard about Scorrybreac from friends so we had booked in advance otherwise I doubt if we would have got a table in a socially, space reduced, restaurant. It’s an £60 fixed price menu with very few tables in a simply furnished (living) room of a terraced house. The staff were attentive and very happy to produce alternatives to things we couldn’t eat on the menu (shellfish allergy). The main starter and the main course itself were of a reasonable size so we didn’t leave hungry and every course without exception was delicious and beautifully presented. The wine list erred on the organic side which I found disappointing but that is our personal taste, perhaps I should have taken their wine flight at £30 per head. There is a great chef in this kitchen and I suspect it will not be long before he gets further recognition and getting a table will be nigh impossible!

A fabulous experience from start to finish! At £60 for the tasting menu plus £30 for the wine flight it’s a fair outlay but each course brought a smile to our face and left us thinking about how and when we could return.
The wine flight is optional but good value though there is an extensive wine list should you prefer to make your own choices. A cheese course is optional and thoroughly recommended for ÂŁ12
Service was very relaxed and informative with no pressure to rush. If you’re in Portree and looking for something special, this is well worth a try!

This intimate perfectly formed tiny restaurant is the foodie jewel in Portree's crown. We enjoyed a beautifully balanced exciting fine dining tasting menu with matched wine flight.
Perfectly paced, entertainingly hosted- the talented chef and front of house should be proud to know we enjoyed our evening and thought the quality was as good as Gleneagles and The Torridon
Booking essential- very good value too

This was our first experience of Scorrybreac and we were very impressed. The tasting menu was faultless and the wine pairings complemented each course perfectly. Considering the local produce and the number of elements within the menu we felt it was very good value. This is standout cooking from a clearly talented chef. William our host made us feel very welcome and explained each dish and paired drink. We would absolutely go back.

Recently had lunch here and it was delicious. It's a very small intimate restaurant with only 5 tables, it was fully booked when we were there. They only serve the 4 course tasting menu and from what I gathered this changes on a daily basis.
On seeing the menu I was apprehensive as none of the courses were things I would typically order. We had a cauliflower starter with homemade bread and caramelised butter (this was to die for), followed by a veal dish, Hake for the fish course and buckwheat desert. Everything was delicious and I enjoyed that it made me try things that I would never normally order.
The dress code was very casual in the day most people had walking boots on. The price came to around ÂŁ110 for the two of us which I thought was good value considering the quality of the cooking, ingredients and the excellent service.
The service was great- I loved how every dish had a story to it, our sever knew the origins of every ingredient most of them locally sourced. Drinks were reasonably priced and the wines that i tried were very good.
I would definitely book again if I am ever in Portree

We arrived for an early dinner at 5pm and waited a few minutes to be seated right by the window which was lovely. They only had five tables available which made it feel very exclusive and special. It is a tasting menu which changes regularly to tie in with the local produce and what is in season. Service was very good, the waiter explained what each of the dishes were and we didn't feel rushed by the pace. The food itself was delicious, the scallops, venison and agave dessert in particular. We went to the Three Chimneys the day before but we preferred Scorrybreac. I'd recommend this place to everyone visiting Skye!

We booked Scorrybreac after reading such wonderful reviews, the welcome we received consisted solely of a 5 minute spiel about hand sanitizing.... Once we eventually got to sit down we were given the menu which was a tasting menu..... That's exactly what it felt like... A TASTE!!
Absolutely miniscule portions, no faulting the actual cooking and produce that was used. Each dish was simple in plating and consisted of basically 3 elements.. . for example; a piece of well cooked fish, (small piece) a simple garnish and sauce. Every dish requires something else to elevate it in both our opinions.
Now, I'm really only being critical here as at this price point which was £45 a head for 3 small canapé-sized dishes, which we both agreed to be extravagantly expensive. Also worth mentioning we were in and out the place in a an hour, still ravenous and overall utterly underwhelmed.
Save you're money for the car parks in Skye!

Excellent experience for us at the Scorrybreac Restaurant.
The food and the plates exceed our expectations, you can taste the freshness of the ingredients and the sophisticated way of cook each plate.
We did not know that it was a tasting of 10 selected plates for a fixed price when we booked but we were more than satisfied at the end.n
The service was great too and they really Pay attention to the covid situation
We definitely come back and we highly recommend it for a romantic dinner in front of the sea

We attended the restaurant on Weds 16th June in the evening and ate the taster menu.
The maitre d' introduced the menu well, however our table gave direct vision into the kitchen. One of the chefs had long brown curly hair which was not tied back or in a hat and on several occasions he ran his hands through his hair while plating up and never washed his hands in between.
The matire d' then made a toffee cocktail for the neighbouring table in the kitchen and used a spoon to taste and mix it. He tasted it three times and stirred the drinks but never cleaned the spoon between tasting and delivered the drinks to the customers.
Hygiene not good.
The food was at very best average and the bill without drinks was around ÂŁ170.
We visited the Three Chimneys the following day and the food was truly exceptional as was the service and the bill was ÂŁ25 cheaper. I know where we will be going and not going in the future.

Number one place to visit in Skye. How this place does not have a Michelin star is beyond me. Service was completely faultless and each dish was an absolute delight on the palate. The atmosphere was extremely relaxing and I enjoyed watching the chefs at work. Couldn’t get a table for my 30th so settled for lunch the following day and will remember this for many many years to come. Book well in advance as there are only 5 (I think) tables. (Also very good value for money - for the high quality, local ingredients i would expect to pay much more). Will certainly be back to Skye and back here.

We visited this restaurant with our 22 months old child. On the booking email, they told us they did not have a high chair, but they would accept kids if we did not mind or brought our own booster seat, which we did. Upon arrival, the host/maître/waiter repeated the same warning, which made me feel we were not in a very family friendly place but, at that point, it wasn’t a big deal.
Their tasting menu is seasonal and depends on the available produce, so you only know what all the dishes are when you get there. For environmental/animal welfare/personal beliefs reasons, I don’t eat game meat and a lot of other animals. One of the dishes on the menu was deer and when I asked to change it for another option and told the same host/maître/waiter I didn’t eat deer, he acted in a condescending, pretentious and odd way asking me why and what was my problem with that meat. Of course, this is not the proper way to address a customer and even in a small venue, staff should always be prepared to replace dishes for whatever reason (allergy or not), instead of making the customer uncomfortable.
After that, the meal was going well as the food is very good and tasty. However, our child, who was sleeping on the pram until that point, woke up a bit scared and started crying. While I completely understand a crying baby upsets other people as I would not want to deal with that if it wasn’t my own child, the staff could have dealt with the situation in a more proper and polite way. Instead, again the same person came to our table without any apologies and rushed us upstairs like we were contaminated with the plague or something, forgetting to tell us in advance that the upper room wasn’t a proper dining room. In reality, we had to finish our meal in a room filled with paint cans, silver tape, brushes, an iron, a printer, etc. Of course, in a fine dining place, you are not paying only for the food, but for the ambience as well. In that sense, while I really did not want to bother other people, I don’t think was right to rush us to a room that was not fit to welcome a customer without giving us any options. We stayed because we did not want to create an embarrassing situation and because we were in the middle of our meal, but customer service needs to seriously improve at this place. They did not make any effort to try to mend the situation, make us feel a bit better or even smile at our child, who really is just a baby who woke up in a different place and got scared. Any better trained people would offer us something complimentary at the end, like coffees, a glass of wine or a special dessert, etc to make up for the fact that we had to eat outside the dining room in a “work in progress” kind of room, something to undo the bad impression, but no, nothing. Their behaviour was very dismissive.

We dined here during a short trip to Skye. My partner and I consider ourselves foodies but booked Scorrybreac with no prior knowledge or expectations.
We were delighted with the Scorrybreac experience. The seven course tasting menu was inventive, delicious and very reasonably priced. My partner also enjoyed the very well priced wine pairing. Service was excellent from friendly, warm and knowledgable staff and given the current climate, we felt safe and well looked after.
We went to The Three Chimneys the following night and it was disappointing when compared to Scorrybreac. Scorrybreac had it beat on service, flavour and value.
We would visit again in a heartbeat.

We booked the evening taster menu after reading some amazing reviews and we weren’t disappointed! £60 per person and well worth it. Phenomenal food and the service was perfect. Everything was explained clearly and each dish had locally sourced ingredients that you tell were fresh and top quality. We added a cheese platter on which was optional at £12, and was the perfect end to our meal. The drinks were very reasonably priced as well. Would highly recommend if you are in the Isle of Skye to visit!

We had a really bad experience with this restaurant, in fact our only negative experience while visiting Skye. The food looks fantastic so we had made a reservation well in advance for the final day of our trip.
We had a 40 minute drive from where we were staying, and en-route we were brought to a standstill by roadworks, which delayed us by 20 minutes. My wife tried to call the restaurant, twice, to let them know we were running late. She also emailed them. She was unable to speak to anyone (the answerphone message stated they would not respond to calls during service hours).
We were 20 minutes late and on arrival the manager told my wife (who is heavily pregnant) in very unapologetic terms that we could not be seated and had missed our reservation. Despite this being a very small and intimate restaurant, he would make no exception and would not seat us. He told my wife that she should have let them know we were running late - question to Scorrybreac for anyone in this situation in future, how should this be done?
My pregnant wife and I were left feeling very hungry and frustrated by a very rude and obnoxious member of staff, who we assume was the manager. We understand it's a small restaurant, but surely an experienced chef and team are capable of adapting timings?
We still can not believe that they would rather have an empty table than to seat us at all! Food looks amazing but unfortunately we will never know.

It’s been 2 years since we last visited Portree and we were fortunate enough to get a table at one of our favourite Scottish restaurants. Delightful and delicious with a lovely atmosphere and committed and friendly service. The food, most of which is locally sourced, was presented over multiple courses with flare and had been expertly prepared and cooked.
Pairing cocktails on offer as well as wines for all courses made for extra level taste sensations as well as fuelling our holiday spirits. We can’t wait to return next time we get a chance to visit one of the most beautiful corners of this planet!
