The restaurant is in fact a Pub, however it's quirky and well worth a visit. The food is a mixture of French, Russian and Worldwide. Not gourmet, but edible and enhanced by the eccentric owner who seem to have had an amazing life.

Just the thing on a cold windy evening after an equally cold windy sail. Not at all what I was expecting in Port Balantyne. The borsch soup was excellent, Beef strogonoff was good, house homemade sausages were outstanding - the chef/wife is Siberian. Great atmosphere. For those that want there's a big interesting vodka selection.

No atmosphere. Dingey and dark inside. Bar staff/manager was arrogant and weird. House rose wine was like vinegar. However the Russian draft beer was very nice. Strange place for a Russian themed bar. Would not visit again

Four of us including one Vegetarian had an excellent supper here. Fayre included a Borsch soup, Mixed Vegetables, Coquilles St Jacque and Strogonoff all cooked fresh with local produce by the owner's wife. The owner himself was attentive in front of house role, served excellent white and red house wines and ensured we enjoyed a very relaxed evening with our... More

Stopped by for a refreshment my husband and I as we had been for a nice long drive round the countryside. Staff very friendly and pleasant to have a chat with. Their knowledge of the island was profound. Keep up the good work.

What a dinner! All organic or game, even choice of organic beer. Super tasty, no salt no sugar. on top superb entertaining post-bbc-journalist owner. You could expect it from £50 london place, but from £10-15 end of the world island???

We stopped at Port Bannatyne for one night, and were looking for a place to dine that night. There didn't seem much choice here, but the sound of the Russian Tavern was inviting. We booked a table for that evening as it was Saturday, there was a group of us and the restaurant could be busy. Port Bannatyne is a... More

Good food and good service. Well sited opposite the pier in this seaside village. The view is magnificent and the atmosphere is friendly.
