Really good food but extremely crowded. Is it worth the wait? Maybe...depends on how desperate you are for BBQ. We endured the wait after hearing the reputation and it was great.

This was our first visit so we both had the ribs. Very meaty and lean. Great flavor. Didn't need any sauce as the rub with the rib juice made the ribs wet enough. My friends told me to check this place out when in Memphis. Not only were the ribs and brisket off-the charts but the atmosphere and history of the joint with all the memorabilia was so cool! A must for anyone to take it all in and experience the real Memphis cuisine.

This place gets knocked by the locals as being a touristy place...though we enjoyed our meal and experience. I ordered the lamb ringlets and my guys ordered the ribs. All was very good as was the mustard cole slaw. Good draft beer selection Would go back

Since we were in Memphis we had to go have ribs and Charlie Vergos' Rendezvous did not disappoint. We were seated in the basement seating area and did not have to wait for table even though the restaurant was quite busy. We have been to Rendevous several times. We've noticed the quality of the food slipped on the past two visits. Fatty ribs. Off putting sauce. The service is still attentive. The music - amazing. It's just not the top of.our list anymore.

Ribs were excellent. Brisket was ok. A little dry in my opinion but good. Loved the restaurant though and the staff was so awesome! Bonus... free red beans and rice on fridays and man was that good!!!

The place is very traditional and famous, and we can understand why. Service was fast and friendly and the food was very good. We ordered a combo of ribs and pork shoulder ($21), comes with a side of beans and cole slaw. It was enough for 2 people.

Okay, please don't boo me or be a hater. I know people LOVE their Rendezvous! But seriously, it's a great atmosphere, a great story, great history! I agree! But the food, well really, the ribs and brisket are dry. Yes, dry! There are MUCH better BBQ places! Go for a drink - take in the atmosphere - then go somewhere... More

No matter if you order ribs or just sandwiches (pulled or chopped), it all melts in your mouth. Their baked beans are pure southern and their slaw has a bite all its own. They also serve a great chees platter appetizer. Service is always excellent. The ambiance in that basement cannot be beat!

The Rendezvous, founded by Charlie Vergos in 1948, started out as an 80 seat tavern serving ham and cheese sandwiches. When Charlie cleaned out the basement beneath his diner, he discovered a coal chute and started a barbecue legend. The coal chute gave Mr. Charlie a vent for his considerable talent over the grill. He developed a unique seasoning fusing his Greek heritage with spices he enjoyed from New Orleans. Mr. Charlie was a collector and hung antiques, memorabilia, and artwork on the walls. This, along with a soulful jukebox, lively waiters, and aromas from the kitchen helped him to create an atmosphere unequalled in the city of Memphis. Today, the restaurant is still in the Vergos family and run by Mr. Charlie's three kids. The ribs still taste the same as they did in the beginning. Ribs are the Rendezvous' specialty. Years ago, people started calling them "dry ribs" which is a terrible misnomer. The ribs are neither "wet" nor "dry." They are moist and juicy and come heavily basted in a vinegar solution that should be used for dipping, and they are sprinkled with our unique Rendezvous seasoning. Any use of sauce should be on the side. Most of the main dishes come with a 4 oz side of baked beans and a unique mustard/vinegar based cole slaw. Should you want additional sides, they may be purchased for only $1. While Rendezvous is famous for its ribs, don't overlook the other items on the menu. From the beef brisket to the pulled pork shoulder sandwich to grilled chicken everything is excellent and well seasoned. The newest item, the greek salad, is a recipe that comes all the way from the Vergos' village back in Greece. On your way out, pick up a bag of BBQ popcorn.The Rendezvous can handle parties as large as 300, call us for reservations. Reservations are accepted for 15 people or more during the week and 25 people or more on the weekend based on availablity. Our main dining area is in a basement. If you require elevator access please let our hostess know.
