We have eaten at Johns cafe almost every time we have visited Barry Island. There is a pleasant terrace just moments away from the beach. On every occasion we have received excellent customer service from the welcoming staff. There is a great inexpensive menu and...meals include full cooked breakfasts, Sunday roast dinners and burgers and chips. We usually opt for the fish and chips with mushy peas, which are always cooked to order, taste great, reasonably priced and very generous in sizeMore

Such nice people! We couldn't pay by card for a couple of coffees last week because their machine was down. The owner insisted we have them anyway and pay next time we were in Barry. We were complete strangers to them, you don't get that...service very often these days! Returned today to pay what I owed and bought some more coffees and take-away sarnies. They were so tasty! Really fresh and packed with filling and salad. So impressed. And the coffee - Lavazza - as good as you'll find anywhere. Will definitely give them my custom in the future. They deserve it!More

We absolutely love Johns cafe , because it's offers great value for money, is family friendly and the staff are amazing. The cafe has a great outside seating area, which is relaxed and is always immaculate with well spaced table's and umbrellas. There is a...great low priced menu and we have eaten here many times. Previously we have had the cooked breakfast, which was freshly cooked and tasted fantastic. We have also had fish and chips with mushy peas and bread and butter, which was delicious and very generous in size. On this occasion we had the takeaway roast beef dinners, which we ate on Barry Island Beach (spacious and clean). The beef was cooked perfectly and was served with lots of vegetables, a Yorkshire pudding, roast potatoes and gravy. The dinner was lovely and we would definitely recommend a visit.More

We visit 'Johns'for a takeaway coffee every time we go for a walk at the beach. Graham and Zac are always very cheerful. Always a pleasure to chat to them both. Kept our spirits up during the lockdown. Today we had a lamb dinner, it...was delicious.More

We have eaten here on a number of occasions and have always received excellent customer service from the the friendly owner and great guality food at excellent prices. Johns cafe offers a large selection of meals, including cooked breakfast, burgers and chips and roast dinners....On this occasion we had a beef dinner with all the trimmings, which was delicious and very reasonably priced. The cafe was immaculate and the table's were spaced out. The location of the cafe is well positioned on the promenade, being close to the beach with easy parking. It's easy to see why Johns cafe has got such great reviews on Tripadvisor. We can't wait to return and would definitely recommend a visit.More

Excellent value for money. I had a beef dinner and the meat was tender and plentiful. Plenty of vegetables, potatoes and gravy. Would highly recommend 👍🏻

I always have this and the eggs are always runny and the double cooked chips would be hard to beat in any restaurant. Served outside in great take away boxes. All Covid restrictions taken into account. Very friendly, efficient staff and it's a pleasure to...eat here. Great cafe.More

What a find . We visited Barry a month ago and went to a local pub and it was terrible so this time we read the reviews and went straight to John’s cafe . My partner had the roast lamb and vegetables, he’s fussy but...couldn’t fault his meal at all 👍 my son had the chicken strips and said they were better than any fast food outlet , I had the sausage chips and curry sauce and it was so yummy . Put this with very friendly and efficient service and you’ve got a hitMore
