It's over an hour drive for each of us to meet in Monteagle for dinner but this is the place we have been going for years. Tonight was not the best experience though. We had terribly slow service and the entrees were cold when they...More

Thank you for your review. Sorry that your last experience with us was not satisfactory. Busy nights can sometimes slow service down, but I hope this will not prevent you from coming to visit us in the future! We appreciate your business!!

Enjoyed dinner in this former hang-out of Al Capone's. Great pecan-crusted trout with a variety of heirloom potatoes. My husband had "black-and-bruised" NY strip steak with peppercorns and blue cheese butter. Had grilled pound cake for dessert. We'd originally intended to eat at Pearl's Foggy...More

Coming from the area, there is really a dearth of places to eat when in the area. But High Point is great! Food was delicious and enjoyed by all 6 of us. Our waitress was just wonderful and helped fill in and add to many...More

We enjoyed our dinner at High Point. Food was very good. Atmosphere was kind of dull. We had hoped to learn a little about the history of the building but servers did not offer any insights into the historical aspects of the place.

I say "Best in the area" because that's really all there is in the area. I hate to compare it to other steak places but I can't help it. This place is really nice. They have a wide range of options. The atmosphere is great...More

Good was great! The restaurant has ties to Al Capone 's day. The place can handle a large party. The food is pricy but great.

WOW! This whole place is wonderful! The food is exquisite! The house itself is worth the drive! Make sure to ask a seasoned waitress about the history of the home, as it was used by Al Capone: underground tunnels were discovered by the city during...More

What cab I say that hasn't been said about this incredible jewel in a picturesque town? The food is world class the selection ample, prices are fair and service professional. Also the history of this being Al Capones home ads a certain fun aura GO____

There didn't seem to be an official dress code. We were dressed fairly formal, others were business casual.

Description
Built inside a 1929 mansion that presumably once was financed by Al Capone, the restaurant serves a menu of traditional gourmet dishes including Brie en Croute, Blackened Salmon Oscar and Black Thai Duck. The mansion that houses the restaurant was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1997 and still features the original escape hatches and underground tunnels that were used by Capone to transfer liquor during the Prohibition Era. In 2001, High Point received the "Best Gourmet Meal in Tennessee" award from "Tennessee" magazine.
