Stayed the night and had the tasting menu, food was really good as usual, they use a lot from their impressive kitchen garden, the menu was pretty heavy on carrot as i assume that is what was in abundance at the time. The only downer for me was the waiter, we had matching wines and every time he came to... More

In the area for business and stayed for the food! We opted for the 8 course degustation which in reality was an 11 course feast - 3 starter dishes "from the kitchen" that didn't even count. They were great, especially the smoked eel - this should be added as a real course in itself! The degustation was an experience -... More

Dropped in on the way home from some of the wineries in the Coonawarra and enjoyed an excellent meal. The set menu offered 3 courses and a glass of wine for $50 which was great value for the quality of the meal. The service was terrific. I hope to visit again.

We had been looking forward to dining at the Royal Mail for quite some time. Having recently eaten at Attica we were looking forward to the experience and comparing. The Royal Mail was just as good if not better in some areas. We chose the 8 course degustation with matching wines. We had originally planned to start with a glass... More

We were here for three days and enjoyed the best food of my life. The produce was fresh and tasty and each dish was beautifully presented. Deserts were spectacular taste sensations and after dinner cheese platters were varied and contained a different interesting cheeses each day. This experience was wonderful and well worthwhile. I will be returning here on my... More

We were fortunate to squeeze into this elegant restaurant for the five-course tasting menu after a last minute cancellation and were rewarded with spectacular seats in front of the bustling open kitchen. British-born Chef Robin Wickens was passionate about using only seasonal local ingredients (nothing imported) and that made for a distinctive Australian dining experience. An artfully presented amuse bouche... More

There is much to be applauded here, comfortable purpose build accommodation, an incredible wine list, a log fire in the dining room, earnest young cooks at the ready, comfortable chairs. Here the food and wine is taken very seriously. The guests are seated and the show begins. The question I ask is - what is more important, the show or... More

The premise or ‘brand’ of the Royal Mail has always been; fresh, seasonal, local produce prepared and served to the highest standards in wonderful surroundings. It is has been for many years a favourite ‘destination’ restaurant of mine. Oh, and it had three hats from the GFG. A ’go-to’ place to take foreign guests. The departure of star chef, Dan... More

I was given the option of several tables, and opted for one with a view of the kitchen, wood burning heater, outside window and other guests ... as a solo traveler it made people watching less intrusive and the evening very pleasant / comfortable. I treated myself to the 8 course degustation menu, to which both a starter plate and... More
