The food at this venue is to die for! My partner had the lamb shoulder and the meat was just falling off the bone! I had the special roast chicken which was delicious! The service was faultless with the wait staff very attentive. We were seated at a table right next to the fire which was heaven! We will be... More

It was a cold Sunday night and we decided to eat in the front bar at the Hotel. Fires were going and it was a really warm and snug atmosphere. The wait staff were spot on. We ordered a pasta dish and the pork belly. Both came out cold and we had to return them. Eventually they returned and my... More

Popped in on a lovely Autumn weekday. Slightly long wait for overcooked fish, with the chefs reply "it is a firm fish". Interesting way to describe overcooked tasteless fish. My partner enjoyed his meal, however not enough to have me coming back for a meal. Shame as I have enjoyed meals here in the past...

stayed there on a Sunday with a bed / dinner package. Excellent 6 course dinner (steak and roast veg partic good) and comprehensive wine list (Yarra Yering pinot outstanding) with friendly professional service. However bedroom was noisy (sounded as though there was a band plus 2oo people next door !) but it was comfortable. Bathroom down the corridor reflects the... More

Thanks for your kind comments. I'm glad to hear you enjoyed our Tasting menu and some great local wines. Shame about the noisy neighbours! I hope we can welcome you back for a (quieter) stay soon! More

We ordered a five course sharing platter meal @$70 per head. Only one course was edible, even the desert was stale, heavy and tasteless. We commented on the second course to our waitress and it seemed from then on the chef went out of his way to make our meal inedible! We had a price reduction because we complained again... More

Thanks for taking the time to review our venue. Needless to say, I'm disappointed that we didn't meet your expectations. Your opinion of our food, while concerning, is unusual feedback for us, which we will take into consideration as we continue to evolve our menus and style. I would welcome the opportunity to discuss your experience further if you would... More

On a Cold and wet Sunday we decided to visit one the locals , they're all great value and we always leave very satisfied. That was until we tried the Healesville hotel. This pretentious pocket of yuppiedom is sure to empty your wallet and not fill your belly. The near $40 mains are hardly a morsel ,tiny bits of meat without any sides... Thanks for your feedback Michael. I will admit that we do occasionally have one, very special dish on offer in the dining room priced at over $40. That would be our grass fed wing rib, dry aged for 4 weeks by our butcher next door in K&B. However we know this might not get every patron as excited as it... More

Had a great dinner at the Healesville Hotel with wife and 2 friends - service was first class by the young sommelier who really knew his stuff. The dining room was comfortable and pleasantly warm on a cold evening. We had a thoroughly enjoyable evening.

We called in for dinner on our way home Easter Monday. Pleased they were open, which many places were not. Food was good but a bit overpriced for the standard, we thought. Ross had a steak part of which was quite grissly. I had two entrees as nothing else really appealed. I expected them to be served warm however they... More

Greeted by very friendly and helpful staff. The atmosphere was lovely. Tastefully decorated. Unfortunately we were disappointed with our food - a shared platter - Cold pieces of beetroot, charcoal blackened steak not cooked - red and tough - and profiteroles without taste. To their credit they took our comments on board and gave us a discount.

Old world charm with new world style, this classic country hotel is at the heart of the Yarra Valley.

We are now offering great food, seven days of the week using the best of the season and region.

Choose from a selection of smaller snacks and tastes to nibble on with your glass of local wine...

Next, let us carve some of our famous K&B charcuterie; Italian parma ham, bresaola, Spanish salamis, and our house made pork, veal and pistachio terrine... served with crusty bread, little pickled vegetables and caper berries.

Our kitchen are slow cooking local lamb shoulders for 12 hours... and roasting local Berkshire pork belly.

Finish with Sophie's selection of perfectly ripened cheeses, hand picked from our copper cheese cabinet in our providore, Kitchen & Butcher.

Our new menu also features hearty classic 'pub style' dishes to satisfy the hungriest diner.
